LOST; Unanswered Questions
Alright brothas and sistas in Lost
As I sit here in on the eve of the Series finale of Lost I am struck by the fact that with the best will in the world there is no way that
the writers can answer all the questions that have been posed/ brought up by
Lost over the years.
This is no bad thing.
Part of the allure of Lost for me has been trying to work out the mysteries of the show. Indeed you could speculate that having some
questions unanswered is not a bad thing. It forces us to band together as a
community to come up with some answers. Live together, die alone if you will.

This is the place to Post any of the questions that you feel were not answered come The End. Hopefully the collected wisdom of the Losties United can come up with some answers

Yeah, the polar bears were a product of the dharma initiative running tests to see how certain animals might adapt to a different environment. This was partially explained in the LOST ARGs between season 1 and 2 (i think). If I recall correctly, the Hanso Foundation website posted job opportunities for scientists studying such things as 'animals out of their habitat'. After the purge the bears must've escaped and were living elsewhere on the island.

I'll admit, I still don't fully understand the "sickness". It sounds a lot like some kind of mental illness or "island madness", but I'm sure that's probably not exactly the case.

This is a bit unclear to me as well. It seems the sickness may be attributed to the Smoke monster infecting and overtaking some people and corrupting them during their possible death and resurrection. Did we see Charlie act weird after he was brought back to life by Jack in the first season?

If you subscribe to the notion that it was the bardo cycle and that only by becoming aware could you continue onward to the next stage in your life, then she didn't want Desmond to awaken her son because she wanted to be with him there in their perfect life. This is a woman who knew - for her entire adult life - that her son would come to the Island and die. And they never specifically said it was heaven, just the next step in their journey (interpret that however you'd like depending on your faith or belief structure).
Just like with Ben, he "had some things to work out" and wasn't ready to move on so he wanted to stay there. And Ana Lucia (remember Des said she wasn't ready), and Miles (who had just gotten to have a life with his father there). -
