Thanks for the invite! It reminded my I need to focus on owning the Highlander film collection.
Anyone else ever play Highlander as a kid?
Growing up my cousin and I were big fans of the Highlander TV show here in the United States. We hadn't yet heard about the Highlander movies.
We would play fight as Highlanders by dueling with broom sticks. The rules were that you can only get killed if the other hits your neck with a broom stick. One hit to your neck and you lose and the other guy wins.
The other rule was that we had to stay with a 6 by 6 section of my Granma's backyard cement patio marked by 'cracks' left after the cement was made.
You won by using 'Street Fighter 2' rules. You have to win two out of three rounds.
The funniest part of the match was that besides the broom sticks, punching, kicking, headbutting, and any foreign object you could also step out of the 'ring's' preset boundaries as a way of defending yourself. When you were out of the ring you were conisidered to be on Holy Land! So, you could not be killed, but once outside the ring 'WWF' rules applied, you automatically lose the match because you would be 'counted out'. If you were counted out you would have to kneal and bow your head to get executed by willing broom stick beheading.
