Sean Hannity had two choice words for Jon Stewart Wednesday night: thank you.
Hannity "thanked" Stewart on his Fox program 'The Sean Hannity Show' for pointing out that a Hannity report last week on a recent anti-health care reform rally in Washington D.C. was accompanied by older footage of a larger rally, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.
The video used was part of a "9-12" group rally. The 9-12 rally, affiliated with the anti-tax Tea Party movement, took place on Sept. 12, and had a much larger crowd. Stewart pointed out the video glitch on Tuesday's episode of 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.'
Hannity, a conservative firebrand, spent about 30 seconds at the end of his show on the apology.
So, post-mea culpa, the ball was squarely back in Stewart's court, and do you think he was just going to let it lie there? Of course not. On Thursday night's 'Daily Show,' Stewart responded with a segment that mocked not necessarily the apology itself, but the fact that he had to sit through the entirety of Hannity's show (clad in his bathrobe) to get to it. "It wasn't worth it!" he groaned.
He then confessed that though Hannity had thanked Stewart and his writers for watching his program, they had not actually done so -- then trotted out the "young" producer who'd been tasked with watching 'Hannity' for five months straight.
