Comment by Robert Wild on March 3, 2013 at 4:41pm I always thought the plot and story was amazing for this film. The only thing that brought it down (for me) was that it really should have been 2 movies. Harry's redemption felt rushed, and it really should have ended with a cliff hanger, Eddie getting the symbiote in the church. The sand man story, however, was perfectly fine and was ok to be resolved in Spiderman 3. It's just that they should have ended it with Eddie becoming Venom and him being the main villain of Spiderman 4.
And although Venom looked too small, I was still really impressed with how well THREE supervillains looked in one movie (to all the "Spiderman 3 fucked up Venom" people out there. The effects were incredible).
I'm not saying it's without flaws (Aagain, it should have been two movies. Parts felt rushed). The "Sand man killed Uncle Ben" thing could have been done better, but I still liked the idea. And there's probably one dance scene too many.
But, overall, I still really like Spiderman 3, good film. I don't love it as much as when I first saw it (but come on, I was nine) the only thing I couldn't understand was the hatred that followed it. I remember when I first saw it EVERYONE loved it, it was a huge hit! But, a few years ago, I was shocked to see it on a "worst superhero movies ever" list. And since then, I've noticed all the hatred.
I even thought the reboot movie was ok too, but I still think there should have been a Spiderman 4, to give a stronger finish to that series.
My ratings of the Spiderman film series...
Spiderman: Full Price!!
Spiderman 2: Better Than Sex!!!
Spiderman 3: (High) Matinee!
Amazing Spiderman: (Solid) Matinee!
But, that's just me :)
Comment by Hector Fernando Andrade JR. II on July 13, 2011 at 6:13pm I thought the story of Spider-Man 3 was a clear, relatable, memorable and sharply told superhero story because the story is about what happends to people when they live with revenge in their hearts and how importaint forgivness is.
I thought that the cast was very good.
I thought that Tobey Maguire was terrfic as the black suited Spider-Man because I liked how threatening he was towards Flint Marko, Harry Osborn, Eddie Brock and Mary Jane.
Thomas Hadden Church was spectacular as William Baker also known as Flint Marko also known as Sandman because he looks a lot like the character in the comic books.
Since Topher Grace is a big fan of the character in the comic book he was great as Eddie Brock JR. II and Venom.
I thought that all the actors in Spider-Man 3 ended up giving strong and impressive acting proformances.
I thought that director Sam Raimi directed Spider-Man 3 with a smashing, exhilarating and superlative touch that once again stays true to the comic books and the 1994 animated television series.
The special effects and the visual effects that are this time designed and supervised by Scott Stokdyk of Peter Parker, Spider-Man, The New Goblin, Sandman and Venom in the action scenes are fantastic, fashionable and fascinating. Movie composers Danny Elfman and Christhopher Young create and compose some sweet, swell, thriving music for Spider-Man 3 and we really liked the transforming message in Spider-Man 3 which is about the danger of the sin of pride and revenge and redemtion and about finding hope and learning forgivness and to see what it is to have friends in all of our lives.
At the end of the day I thought that Spider-Man 3 was a perfect conclusion to the outstanding trilogy that will provide an incredible good time and will once again satisfied the fans of the comic books and the 1994 animated television series. I give Spider-Man 3 5 out of 5 stars and hope you enjoy Spider-Man 3.
