If it's crap... We'll tell you

Well everyone .... I thought I would do my list a bit different than most ... Everyone knows that Dark Knight, Iron Man and Wall-E etc were going to be the best movies released in 2008 ....so my list is going to include some films that most people didn't see this year.... I hope that you will rent them or take the time to see some of the movies that didn't get the props that they should have.

In no particular order here are my top underrated movies of 2008

1. Milk - go see this one ... Sean Penn and Gus Van Sant have a proposition for us: a biopic dedicated to the memory of San Francisco activist and City Supervisor Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California, who was murdered by a fellow supervisor in 1978.

2. Son of Rambow - Son of Rambow is a hilariously fresh and visually inventive take on friendship, family, film heroes, and the death-defying adventures of growing up in the video age.

3. Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father - It's a story about a murder, made by the victim's oldest friend, and structured as a cinematic letter to the victim's son Zachary, a boy he would never know.

4. Slumdog Millionaire - Slumdog Millionaire is the story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India’s “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

5. Zack and Miri make a Porno - What can I say about this one ... just watch it ... its funny!

6. An American Carol - David Zucker’s new film, An American Carol, is a comedy about a bumbling, anti-American documentary film maker named Michael Malone. In this unapologetically pro-American film, Malone leads a protest movement to ban the Fourth of July, but is visited by ghosts of great Americans (and the Angel of Freaking Death) who try to save him before it’s too late. It's just funny.

7. Boy A - director John Crowley's brooding and insightful drama about a young man entering mainstream society after spending the better part of his childhood institutionalized for his involvement in a horrific crime

8. Doubt - John Patrick Shanley brings his play "Doubt" to the screen, in a story about the quest for truth, the forces of change, and the devastating consequences of blind justice in an age defined by moral conviction.

9. The Wrestler - Wrestler Randy "The Ram" Robinson (Mickey Rourke) sense of identity is fading into nothingness ... after the spotlights dim and he experiences a close brush with mortality, he begins to evaluate his life while considering the comeback that could very well kill him. .

10. Rachel Getting Married - When Kym (Anne Hathaway) returns to the Buchman family home for the wedding of her sister Rachel, she brings a long history of personal crisis, family conflict and tragedy along with her. The wedding couple's abundant party of friends and relations has gathered for a joyful weekend of feasting, music and love, but Kym--with her biting one-liners and flair for bombshell drama--is a catalyst for long-simmering tensions in the family dynamic.

Now don't think that I didn't like all the box office hits .... I just wanted to give you guys something else to watch. Go expand your mind =) See some of these films if you have not had the chance.

My favorite of 2008 by far would have been Happy Potter and the Half Blood Prince .... If it was released when it was supposed to have been ....LOL. I know .... I know .... it is not right to say that it would have been my favorite film without seeing it ....but what can I say.... there has not been a Harry Potter book or film that I have not liked.

Love you all
Edie

This is for Spillers who like going out regularly like myself. From now on I will regularly organize nights out with other Spillers and we'll do a pub crawl, go bar hopping or go out clubbing. These are not Spill Parties. These are Spill Outs
