Captain America #41: Well this should be easy. I'm not going to go real in depth with this one just know, its still Captain America and its still fucking great for all the same reasons the past 40 issues have been. Theres a big plot twist this issue that rapidly sets into motion what looks to be the climax of this epic story. Theres some cool character moments with Bucky or should I say, Captain America. Thats what I'm thinking.
Rating: 5/5 cuz its Captain America duh!
Final Crisis Legion of Three Worlds #1: Whoa boy its the Legion. What could be one of the most confusing things ever and now there is going to be 3 of them in the same book. And its supposedly tying in with an event, Final Crisis. Shit son! Thank god Geoff Johns leaves it with the essentials and lays down the foundation fierce in this issue. All the essential information is here though really this feels like the final act of what hes been doing with the Legion in Justice Society and Action Comics. Theres alot of really great character moments here from the founding Legionnaires especially Lightning Lad who I get the feeling is one of Geoff's favorites. George Perez's art is great and he feels like the perfect fit for a Legion book. The only problem I have with this issue is Superboy-Prime. Hes a villain you love to hate, or you just hate. Usually I'm a part of the former but I think the beginning scene at the Superman museum was a bit too long. It seems a little too interested in showing easter eggs for comic geeks something Geoff occasionally does fall prey to doing. However Prime is paralleled to our Superman in a way that I found great. Oh and addressing the supposed tie-in to Final Crisis, this book seems to have nothing to do with Final Crisis and I'm sure the tag was just added to sell more copies same as with Rogues Revenge. Oh I forgot to mention this is a great value for 36 dense pages of story.
Rating: 4/5 I'm in the stupid future!
Rann-Thanagar Holy War #4: This issue is not very good. Its a whole bunch of characters narrating their fight scenes and waiting to have enough MP charged up for their special. Thats how it felt reading this which is disappointing because I was really excited about this series when it started. Every issue I read though my excitement drops. Sure there is one or two interesting plot advances but not enough. Starlin tells a good space yarn to be sure but I hate it when he falls into the heroes against an ungodly powerful opponent for a whole issue shit. The art is also not very impressive. Simply serviceable. Plus, whats with these stupid one shot tie-ins to this story. What bullshit. Okay, so its not as bad as all that. Its still decent but very disappointing none the less.
Rating 2/5 for narrating an issue long fight scene!
