This strange item could appeal to the meticulous model maker. When plugged into a USB port on your computer the owl's familiarly-shaped head moves and eyes blink. It's not hard to see how some sculpting and repainting could work here.

Elenco Follow Me Robot Kit. The robot you assemble from this kit uses 4 microphones to detect the source of a sound and move towards it. This could be a good starting point to build up from.
Pocket Plasma Light with clip. This small light resembles the one on CH3K's mouth that moves when he talks. It also has a switch to make it respond to sound.
