Nickelodeon announced this morning that it has given the green light to "The Legend of Korra," from "Avatar: The Last Airbender" series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko:

"Mike and Bryan have imagined a compelling new story inspired by the Airbender mythology that they so brilliantly crafted when the TV series began," Johnson said. "This new avatar is not only a girl, but also hot-headed, independent and ready to take on the world."

The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang – a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra. With three of the four elements under her belt (Earth, Water, and Fire), Korra seeks to master the final element, Air. Her quest leads her to the epicenter of the modern "Avatar" world, Republic City – a metropolis that is fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive. However, Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart. Under the tutelage of Aang's son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training while dealing with the dangers at large.

Whats your alls opinion of this. being that this is an Avatar fan club

I would love more Avatar. I like the 100 year setting but I would rather see Book 4: Air.
sorry I just got more accurate info saying 70years
Glad to hear the 30 year difference, this way more characters might show up (not everybody can be like King Bumi)
I also had a crazy idae for another season/series

After the fight with Azula under Ba-Sing-Sei, while Aang was momentarily "dead" from the lightning another Avatar was born. For the first ime ever 2 avatars exsist at the same time, creating a new set of probelms

She would grow-up with and secretly train until she meets Aang 14-18 years later to learn Airbending and prevent a Fire Nation civil war started by Azula, Ozai and loyalist generals.

This new avatar would have differnt ethics than Aang and she would use blood bending or kill if neccessary (like Avatar Kioshi) Maybe I'd work in some sort of inconvient psychic link between them since they are the same person/share a soul.

Episodes would also include Toph reconciling with her parents/ becoming a teacher, Zukos mom, Earth King returning, etc.,,, maybe I'd use your idea of Azula opening the spirit world for her revenge.
So you want it to be like Buffy?
Ok ok ok now hang on everyone, this girl named Korra is going to learn how to airbend form Aang's son not from Aang himself...
So Aang is dead. I can accepted that but was Katara his wife? Did Zuko, Sokka and Toph start famines of there, hell are they going to be in show at all? Dose Zuko, Sokka and Toph kids end up being in the show? Will they ever tell us what happen to Zuko's mom?
go to wiki to find out what happened to zuko's mom
I hope they explain how Aang died (for there to be a new avatar, the previous one had to have died) because for korra to be the age that she is (14-18). Aang would've died in his mid to late sixties (technically 160's but he didn't seem to have repercussions for freezing him self), some thing tells me it wasn't natural causes. Then again, King Bumi might have been a bit of an outliar as far as the general life expectancy goes.
no each motherfuckin avatar gets their own motherfuckin animal didnt you ever see the spirit world episode??
Ok, the Wall Street Journal blog has an interview with the creators about this new series.

To answer a few questions:

-The airbender Korra is learning from is Aang and Katara's son.

-Being frozen for 100 years apparently shortened Aang's life.

-There's a chance for old characters to come back (I want old lady Toph)
I'd like seeing old man sokka
i want cameos from the original series
