Megatron and Beast Wars

Is the Transformers G1 Megatron related in any way to the Beast Wars Megatron ?? I'm aware that the Maximals and Predacons are descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons , and that Optimus Primal is not Optimus Prime , but is Megatron the original Megatron or a different Decepticon ??
