Giant series or small

I've got to agree with you on the smaller series, so long as it still has a full story arc. To me, a top end episode count over 50 is just too much. The characters start to become boring. Sailor Moon lost me after the Doom Tree series, but I love the original stuff. The short series sometimes do leave you wanting more, though. I try to judge based on the animation and story, not length. Funny how my favorites are all shorter in length though...

The one short series I loved but wanted longer was The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzamiya. If some shorter series have a flaw it is not enough content between character introduction and the major conflict.

I don't know. I think I'm more permissive of long series (is that plural?) in their written form rather than animated....which is some weird kind of bias on my part. It's really difficult to stay with a long running series just because it seems like you're promised something in the beginning as far as conflict that will be resolved somehow. When the series goes on and on or has countless filler episodes...*cough* Naruto *cough*....... I just get bored. A short series gives you the exposition and conflict, which is followed by the resolution...hopefully in an interesting story. A long series without a real storyline is much easier to stay with, as long as it's entertaining.

Although, if there are long series that I can tolerate like Yuyu Hakusho....I suppose it just depends on the show really...
