Did anybody else really enjoy this movie and thaught that Goro Miyazaki got alot of unjust criticism from critics and others?. Apparently he got the worst director award at the Bunshun rasberry awards in Japan, Tales was also awarded worst movie. I think that people should cut him some slack and stop comparing him to his father, it is his first movie after all, I would really like to see more of him.
When I saw it, it was boring... really, I was completely open and up for it but... he's not meant to be a director because one thing i will say (spoiler) they keep talking about death and dying when there is practically no need to, cause there's this whole Oh I'm so afraid of death and dying melodrama going on. And there is absolutely no reason to say it! There's no big battle field with dead people in them there's been no one who actually died to even talk about it. So ultimately it fails at what it's trying to do.
So don't get me wrong I'm not trying crucify him or anything and he is a first timer and all but I could see where the story could be better.
I guess I can see where your going with that, there was a whole lot of talking about *spoiler* life and death and "Nobodys supposed to live forever" especially at the end, but I thaught the characters were likeable enough and I honestly did'nt find it boring, to be honest I thaught it had a better pace than Princess Mononoke but it cirtainly wasnt one of the best Ghibli movies ever, all I'm saying is that its Goro's first movie and he has plenty of time to improve.
