Hmmm.....rental...? I think the fans will appreciate it more than the TV miniseries, but it wasn't anything special and the characterization of Gedo wasn't enough to really, I don't know, touch me like the actual literary work.
so then for a person like me, who is not familiar with the series, has no expectations, and just loves animation, do you think its worth watching a matinee?
compared to his dad's work. it was disappointing. but, for his first film, it was ok.
goro miyazaki didn't bring me into the earthsea universe like how hayao miyazaki brings me into his universe, but, goro did make me very curious about it, so i picked up the first book, A Wizard Of Earthsea.
i don't know why it was called Gedo Senki when the story is all about Arren not Ged.
story and story-telling aside, the animation is top notch. i am probably going to watch it several more times until Ponyo On A Cliff is released.
