So, season 5 just started and the first half will conclude in early December this year. For the series finale sadly we must wait until the summer of 2013, when the second half (read season 6) will debut.

But in the meantime, we can start discussing the episodes, future predictions of how the series will end, character development etc.

Soo discuss :)

Well I must say I am constantly surprised by this series. Whenever you feel it starts dragging or getting slower than usual, it addresses that issue, resulting in unbelievable tension and constantly rewarding resolutions.

SPOILERS

Episode 4 - 51

I must say that this episode takes it up a notch. The intensity between Walter and Skyler (how do you spell her name?) is mind blowing. This has been the first time during the series (or their marriage :p ) when Walter lets go of all restraints and shows Skyler who he really is in his day to day, and what he's really capable of. This isn't to say she sits there and takes it like a wounded bunny, but responds in turn with the same strategy Walter used to defeat Gustavo. This was so brilliantly set up, and I was so looking forward towards that scene, that when conversation started flying, my jaw dropped.

Despite having a slow build-up (which reminded me in some ways of season one, although the seasons are so congruent that I can't really tell them apart), the pay-offs are finally coming.

As Walter starts showing us just in how much control of the situation he is, I feel like the audience starts getting behind him more and more, and this is making me so curious about the direction the show will take as we approach the finale (despite having to wait one more year for it :(

Episode 5 - Dead Freight

SPOILERS BELOW

This is the episode that convinced me to stop being skeptical and put my full faith in Vince Gilligan and in the fact that he will deliver a worthwhile ending to the series. As so many, many series out there disappoint, this episode is the 4th time the show proves to me that it knows what it's doing, putting out what is probably the most well rounded (complete I would say) episode of the whole series for me. Straying from the norm of causes having effects in the long run (over the course of several episodes or several seasons), this episode manages to show all the steps of committing a crime ( a train robbery in this case) while highlighting all the traits of each of the characters, and having them work as a team for the first time, a rather efficient one. Usually in TV shows (with the exclusion of LOST and perhaps the Shield)  you don't usually fear for the health or safety of any of the main characters, nevertheless this show being as random as it is, allows for that wild card, that unexpected, that tension to crawl into your soul, making this whole episode (from the tension with Lidya and how her life was just hanging by a thread to the ongoing dispute between Walter and Mike, to the tension created by the freight train starting to move) then most gripping and morally grey one so far.

Having all that wasn't sufficient, all characters get to shine in this episode, including Skylar. Despite last episodes fight between her and Walter, in this episode we learn that she isn't as defenseless and as much of a victim as she would have Walter think...

The only thing that saddens me is that there are only 3 more left until we must wait for ages again, nevertheless, as stated already, I'm sure now that the wait will be worthwhile.
