What are you favorite lines from The Simpsons? I don't mean catchphrases like D'Oh!, Eat My Shorts!, or Ha-Ha! I'd like to know what episode the lines came from and/or what was the situation they were said in so I could some day look up the clip of the line.
One of my favorite lines occurs when Lisa and/or Bart are showing Homer a video on one of those old film projectors they have used several times on the show. Anyway here is the line:
Homer, Bart and/or Lisa, and Grandpa Simpson are sitting about to watch the film projection:
The film starts.
Grandpa Simpson says: "The pictures...They're coming...Alive!"
The other involves Homer confronting Marge about his sugar mound he is keeping in the backyard.
Marge asks Homer why he cares so much about the ill gotten sugar pile.
Homer says:
"I can't live the buttoned down life like you. I want it all: the terrifying lows, the dizzying highs,
the creamy middles! Sure, I might offend a few of the blue-noses with my cocky stride and
musky odor - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called 'City Fathers' who cluck their tongues,
stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this Homer Simpson?"
That is my all time favorite speech/lines from the entire The Simpsons series. It's what keeps me watching The Simpsons, hoping to on day regaining the Homer/The Simpsons magic.
I've been looking for a long time what episode this from. If anyone knows let me know if you feel charitable.
I did not mean catchphrases. D'Oh! is a catchphrase like Ha! Ha! and Eat My Shorts!
A catchphrase can fit in any show. Know one know what D' Oh! you mean. The D'Oh! from the 'April Fool's Episode' or the episode where Homer get's upset?
What is some of your favorite lines that on The Simpsons. Like a speech, a scene, musical number, an argument, a conversation, anything that is actual dialogue. What's your favorite line that is funny to you during the episode and isn't funny outside the context of the show. D'Oh! means the same thing in that picture that it does on an old t-shirt. That D'Oh! is not from a specific episode, it can't be distinguished from all the other millions of D'Ohs!
Catchphrase are memberable because they remind people of that character or they just plaing sound funny, but they do not display the essence of the show's comedy.
I know of the catchphrase 'I'd buy that for a dollar", but I don't know where it came from because catchphrase don't have the same meaning as actual funny dialogue aka jokes.
Mr. Burns: Smithers had thwarted my earlier attempts to take candy from a baby, but with him out of the picture, I was free to wallow in my own crapulance.
It's sad that kids have to learn big words like crapulance when watching The Simpsons.
All kids want to watch is Homer fall down and say D'OH!, Bart getting Homer mad and getting strangled by Homer, and a cat and mouse that Fight! Fight! Fight!, Fight! Fight! Fight!
