The older episodes are much better. They had originality and a clever story. Today's episodes have really lame plots and are filled with really annoying, unfunny jokes!
Yes, it's just as good as it always was. Yes, they can't ALWAYS be breaking new ground, but there's a lot of REALLY clever new episodes that I loved the shit out of.
Last week a bought season six because of the cheap price, and I almost forgot how awesome that season was.
I watched most of the new seasons and had some genuinely great episodes (Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind, That one where Grandma Simpson died) but the quality is just so lacking now.
they are the same but they are doing comedy for the new generations of fans, so thats what you got to do, stay up to toime and remain fresh ( but still not so funny )
In my opinion, the newer episodes are not as funny as before. Homer doesn't say stuff that is clever in a funny way. My favorite lines from homer are when he gives a speech about his sugar stash he has in his back yard. If anyone can tell me the name of that episode I'd appreciate it.
In a recent season homer sees his reflection in a lake and thinks he's being mugged so he throws his wallet at his reflection and runs away. I think Homer has been seen in front of a mirror before in the series. In any case, Homer is now stupid for the sake of being stupid.
Some episodes are sweeter, which is fine, but that makes The Simpsons a different show. Examples are, "Mona Leaves-a" from season 19 and "Eeny Teeny Maya Moe" from season 20.
The show has a darker tone. Bart attempts suicide in "The Boys of Bummer", the eighteenth episode of The Simpsons' eighteenth season. Homer dreams about suffocating his father in "Papa Don't Leech", the sixteenth episode of The Simpsons' nineteenth season.
In looking for reference, I found this quote by Mike Scully who ran The Simpsons from season 9 to 12: When asked in 2007 how the series' longevity is sustained, Scully replied, "Lower your quality standards. Once you've done that you can go on forever." I found this on Wikipedia, so believe it if you want; that's Wikipedia's motto. Go here for The Simpsons on Wikipida.
The quality of The Simpsons' current episodes can't be determinted until more than five years after The Simpsons' new episodes air.
My and all my cousins have several laugh filled conversations by exchanging, "Remember that time on The Simpsons....?"
Us now in our early to mid 20s reminisce about the episodes we watched growing up over 5 years ago.
If we ever want to talk about a new character we start by asking, "Did you see the episode of The Simpsons when....". We start with 'Did you see...' because we don't watch The Simpsons like we did in our youth, plus The Simpsons' reruns air twice or three (depends on the normal TV channels you can get) every day of the week. So, we more like will sit down and watch stuff that we know will make us laugh like before, but will have things that we never noticed as kids. I look back at several The Simpsons' old episodes and finally get the gags that were movie parodies of movies I never saw until I was older.
That what separates The Simpsons from any show on right now. Family Guy hasn't been around as long as The Simpsons (21+ years!), so people still have to start a Family Guy conversation with "Did you see that time on Family Guy....? Events in South Park and any cable adult humor cartoons are less know by everyone in the conversation because not everyone has cable. This is the only other time I start 'remember when' conversations, "Remember, that time on Seinfeld......?"
So, we'll have to wait to see if the next generation laugh with each other about what to them are 'old' The Simpsons episodes.
“Logan’s Run” Blu-Ray
I don’t care about the doubters, “Logan’s Run” is FULL of win. Back in the far-flung days of yesteryear (1976) when they made movies about the future (23rd century) they liked to have something to say rather than just ‘KIL...
