Id like to think that they were both happening at the same time, zombieland was how america handles zombies (guns,fun and getting laid) while shaun of the dead was how Britain handles it(lets sit in a pub and wait for this to blow over,cricket bats as weapons.)

They were both really well done takes on it and basically this is a long answer just to say C, both equally, awesome in their own way.

Yes Shaun of the Dead is a much better black comedy, Zombieland reminded me of that film 'Adventureland' but with zombies and more action.

shaun did it first, and i think it did it better.
Zombieland just got really slow in the middle, where in SOTD things started getting heated up.
