If it's crap ... We'll tell you

Aaron posted a statusOk, before anyone kills me for liking this movie, I have to make some excuses...
I was bored....drunk...and, and.. awww hell I just found this movie hilarious. Okay, so the synopsis is, "A sentient tire rolls through the desert, using the power of its mind to make small animals and human heads explode." - DTV
I saw the last half of this movie and at first it looked interesting enough, a high contrast, artfully filmed, albeit slow rolling film. It was until I read that synopsis that I realized I was watching a B-genre horror film. Something about this movie kept my attention and by the end of it I was thoroughly ass to why things were happening the way they were and laughing my ass off because of it. The last scene has to be the greatest F-You to Hollywood I've ever seen. I guess the director meant this film to be an homage to "No Reason" and god damn it if he didn't succeed.
If anyone has seen this movie, and I feel like I'm the only one, please let me chime in and fuck my thoughts for no reason until you climax to the point of clarity.

The whole reason you saw it, was due to the fact that this little indie film gained such popularity during it's initial screenings(fantastic fest and the like) and critics enjoyed it's strangeness so much, that some theaters decided to release them, and word of mouth spread. I saw it like a year ago, and agree that it's a great little movie, that constantly pokes fun at it's viewer by placing them in it. It's a movie that doesn't require you to be drunk to enjoy, by the way. It's decent, but your general movie going audience will shy away from it.

Permalink Reply by steven cowie on February 9, 2012 at 7:54am love this movie. the trailer had me convulsing with laughter, and as a Wings Hauser fan twas great to see him on screen again....the very epitome of "cult" cinema.
Permalink Reply by PoopaPapaPalpatine on February 9, 2012 at 11:25am I thought it was decent; nothing great, nothing terrible. The acting was alright considering how stiff the dialogue was. I guess you could say they made what they had work to their best ability.
The puppetry of the tire and the cinematography was something I liked a lot, however. I loved just how flat the image looked and how rough and harsh it made the desert look.
There's a part of me that wished that drive-ins were still around (there's one 40 minutes away from where I live but they never show things like these) because this movie would definitely be part of their late night shlock double features.

The movie is so-so. I love Mr. Oizo's music, but I felt that his film debut was lacking. Some of the rolling field shots were quite nice, but after a while it felt like they were trying to pad the movie out. Maybe criticizing the French for being pretentious is cliche by now, but it's the truth, Ruth.
