Mr. E posted a statusWhile watching NBC's new show, The Cape, and being slightly underwhelmed by the initial premise but hopeful for the future of the series I started to think about what was my favourite Superhero TV show, animated or otherwise, and why.
There have been many Superhero TV shows ranging from Heroes to Smallville but few manage to do anything really new and often fall victim to what in my opinion make comic books a bit difficult to get into, a confused and convoluted narrative. There are however rare gems that stick out in my mind be it down to a cool premise or just great and engaging story telling such as JLU and my personal favourite episode starring Billy West The Greatest Story Never Told.
And so in the interest of furthering my knowledge of great Superhero shows I want to ask what are your favourites and why?
I'll get the ball rolling. For those of you who don't already know Channel 4 in England, my home country, has what is in my opinion the single best Superhero TV show, if it can even be called that, ever made, Misfits. The premise of Misfits is that while doing community service for their respective crimes five teenagers are gifted with superpowers from a freak storm and while trying to live semi normal lives must stave of other similarly super powered humans who would threaten these lives and reveal their dark secret to the world.
Very episodic in its nature and without a backlog of characters to weigh it down Misfits is a Superhero show designed for TV and my generation. It's unpredictable, tense, intriguing and hilarious to boot about all I could ask for from any TV show. If you haven't seen it already use your ingenuity and do so now you will not regret it. I mean what other Superhero TV show has someone try to use a healers power to cure his STI or have the crew take on Jesus in the Christmas special? If you need anymore incentive to watch it then I don't know what to say.

I liked Heroes for the first season, but grew to hate it by the end of season 3. Season 4 was an improvement, but by then it was really too late.
I'll have to check Misfits out, I've fallen into the trap of assuming all new shows of this type are crap (which they mostly are) until I hear otherwise.

Tell me what you think of Misfits once you've given it a try. There's only been 2 series, so 12 episodes, so there isn't a huge amount to catch up on, I do suggest you start from the begining though.

i never really got into heroes until my friends made me catch up to the series before volume 5 started. i loved volume 1, gave volume 2 a pass because of the writters strike, absolutly hated volume 3, thought 4 was an improvment but still sucked n 5 was putting it on the path to redemming the show but it couldnt save it.
also anything that came out the dc animated universe was great super hero tv
