XBOX Fans- Gears of War 3
Gears of War 3 was recently officialy announced.
The word is there will be a 4 player co-op which is awsome because I dont play any single player games and barley play games online.
I really enjoyed the first and second one and will be looking foward to the final of the trillogy.
The launch date is the 8th April 2011 and ill be exclusive to the 360
Do you think it will be great or do you think it will suck?
What are your thoughts on the last two games?

Why does it have to be great (as in exceptional) or suck. I think it will be mid ground, prob not going to blow any gamer away casual or hard core. GOW 2 was more like 1.5 and the trailer for GOW 3 gave me a 1.6 impression still not making that 'Halo 2' jump. That Dark Knight or Terminator 2 jump if you will.
Oh and they added a female in there, how cute, they don't wanna appear homoertoic anymore. I respect women, but seriously they need testosterone driving, muscle bound, guns with legs. Say in 300 if they wanted to be more PC and they added female spartans in metallic bra's.

Yeah it does look odd with a female cog but I think it's because humanity is making their last stand and need all the help they can get, think female Russian snipers in WW2 btw the female cog has been confirmed as Anya and I liked her in the previous games.
Im a little apprehensive about Gears 3, it looks too much like a zombie game with the Lambent creatures, more Locust less Lambent. I hope they stear away from the "Bigger and More Badass" well "Badass" I can live with but scale it down, make it more like Gears 1 i.e. a small squad working behind enemy lines guerilla style, thats whare Gears works best for me due to it being a cover based 3rd person shooter and the large amount of damage enemies can take.

This isn't real warfare but I agree every person counts, I just think she's being crow barred in there, at the expense of sexually curious teenagers and it will be a constant reminder its for the sakes of the guys not women. It's like when the writers of Batman were accused of being homosexual and they just added bat girl to balance the issue. There boom problem solved, right?
But no I was a 360 fan, I played both games and bought GOW2 but I'm not excited about this, or regretting that I sold my 360 to buy a PS3.

Honestly I don't give a damn about GOW single player, but I hope they can bring back what I liked about GOW multiplayer, as I thought the 2nd game lost a good deal of the fun in the multiplayer. If they can make it so the game is more balanced and less dependent on the "host" edge, I really want to play some GOW multiplayer again.

I enjoyed GOW multiplayer way more than GOW2 as well, not sure why, they made improvements like moving slower when you get shot, increasing Lancer damage etc, although the smoke bombs and the ability to plant grenades was a step backwards in my opinion, the game seemed to make more improvements over the original but still wasn't as fun. I felt like GOW's multiplayer was maybe more twitch based i dunno but let's just hope that as you said GOW3's is more like GOW.

More lag in GOW2. It got to the point where in GOW2 it was completely random who would win in a shotgun battle. In GOW their was an obvious difference between a skilled GOW player and a non skilled GOW player. In GOW 2 I never really came across a player who seemed a level above the other players in the room, because the lag was a great equalizer. This made the game boring.

The skill level was also based on the ranking system, A lot of effort went into matching players with the same ranking (skill) for even games, So this meant that the latency was usually a lot higher. I doubt they will change this in the new game but it would be great if they let you choose between Ranking and lowest ping.

If they could follow a narrative closer to the first game rather than the second game (GIANT WORM), I think I might be satisfied.

the GOW franchise has consistently had the best gaming trailer and damn I love this one. Like that they are 'ending' the story and hopefully tieing up loose ends.
