I'm not trying to defend these people who makes jokes (and I don't want to makes jokes, either), but it is kind of hard not to (at least, for the people who aren't close to the victims) because something like a crazy guy dropping a smoke bomb and start shooting people, does sound like something from (especially) a Christopher Nolan's Batman film.
