Pretty much any kind of so-called 'mainstream' music is banned in my house and vehicle. I used to hate rap & hip-hop, until I started listening to the old-school roots of the genre. Liam Howlett's Dirtchamber Sessions mix compilation is a shining example of how good it used to be, before it got completely commercialized.
Here is the first 'track' from the album, just so you can see for yourself:
I also used to hate blues and jazz, until I started listening to Kid Koala. The stuff he can do with two Technics 1200's, a two-channel mixer and a little vinyl is nothing short of amazing, as evidenced by this live performance of Drunk Trumpet:
The first time I heard this track, I didn't have the luxury of seeing the video. I wouldn't have guessed he was making those noises using only the records, but there you have it........
For me the bottom line is that if it sounds good and would make me want to get up and dance, then I'll add it to my playlist. But if I don't like it, then I never want to hear it ever again........

Trance, "new school" rap, emo, "Springer style" country, and Disney/ Nick group teen pop (HSM etc) :P yuck!
The individual kids that sing alone have great pipes but need to stick to their age level of songs (heard a girl singing about relations...not cool) oh...and on Nick who the "H" thought up "the naked brother's band" who in their right mind thought that name was a good idea? sorry but it just screams pervert exploitation. I bet most of the sicko preditors out there bought their cd. (sorry I'm a mom & I wouldn't let my kid be in a band with that name)
I listen to mostly Metal, Classic rock, Old school rap, soul, blues, etc
