Why is Guitar Hero so awesome??? (and some other general stuff)

I constantly find myself neglecting life, work, and school in the midst of playing guitar hero. Now when I was growing up, I was never allowed to play the cool instruments. I played most of the string instruments except the guitar (I played violin, cello, viola, most woodwind instruments, and brass). When this game "guitar hero" came out, I thought it looked dumb and vowed never to play it. Well long story short I ended up buying it and losing a lot of time to it. There are some other video games that I have lost hours of my life to especially rpg games. Final Fantasy is notorious for taking over my life. Being that it is a 60 hour+ game there is no way to not lose your life to it. LOL maybe thats why I'm single because my life consist of sports, video games, traveling, anime, and work. Ok thats enough of my rant, lol!

Get some vitamins (lecithin and s.o.d.) and start playing. Its vital! (warning may cause serious procrastination, temporary laziness, and major ability to ignore people)
personally I've always felt that if people devoted half the time to playing the actual guitar it would be a lot more worth while, and satisfying, but I generally don't like games that feature activities you can do in real life.
Yeah. ^_^ I assume you don't like most wii games, do you? Although I do not really like the idea of someone asking me to play tennis with them and then breaking out the wii remote. I think guitar hero is fun because you can get together with your friends and play like a band. In real life I'm not too talented with a guitar (its hard to get the hang of playing more than 4 strings), but playing it as a game is pretty cool. Anyways, what kinds of games do you like?
I despise the wii in general... Video Games exist so I can sit on my ass, and be entertained by moving my thumbs, not jumping over furniture, dancing like an idiot, or wildly punching at my tv screen... I have no problem with people who like the wii, or people who walk around the block virtually it just doesn't appeal to me. I have witnessed people having all sorts of fun with guitar hero, and rock band... But I classify those people as extreme nerds who need to experiment with hardcore drugs, and have real fun for once.

I like games where I'm conquering planets (Mass Effect), shooting aliens in the face with futuristic, or antique weaponry, also Fantasy games like Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy, God of War... ect.
I've never understood what's so interesting with Guitar Hero, just play on a freakin' regular guitar, lol.
Personally I'd rather stick to martial art, it empties the adrenaline tank.
I guess its the challenge of getting the songs right, or playing with friends, and moving up from the easy level to expert. I honestly thought the same thing and avoided guitar hero for a year. When I saw how much fun my friends Colin, Justin, and Matt were having; I figured I would give it a try. Sure enough it turned out to be more fun than I expected and I bought a copy.
i have only ever played this game intoxicated, normally before going out while dispensing with the predrinks, at particular friends houses, i do not own a console and even if i did i would not buy this game, but i will admit it is pretty fun.

i agree with kiz about the time spent learning to play a real instrument, but that doesn't stop it being a fun game.
I remember when the Wind Waker came out for Game Cube, that was one solid week of playtime.
