Permalink Reply by Chig Champa on January 10, 2013 at 2:07pm I really wish people would shut the fuck up about the 80's.
Seeing people pining away for the 80's on the internet is like sitting in a hospital listening to someone reminisce about the days before penicillin.
Remember how during the 90's we used to all roll our eyes at people going on about how great the 60's were?
Now they've been replaced by a younger batch of douchebags, going on and on about a decade a lot of them aren't even old enough to remember, and most of them weren't even born in.
Take it from someone who lived through them, the 80's sucked.

Permalink Reply by MDS on January 10, 2013 at 5:27pm Hey Chig... What I love is the same people who "love the 80's", are the same ones who never had to live with all the direct to VHS bullshit that destroyed your soul.
Permalink Reply by Lab Rat on January 10, 2013 at 6:45pm Hey, those direct to VHS movies, aside from having the most rocking covers ever, build character if you watch enough of them. And there was always USA Up All Nite and Cinemax if you couldn't get your video fix.
And speaking of character, how many movie characters can anyone name outside of those from the 80's? I mean, there were action movies done post '89, right? I can remember John McClane but who was Bruce playing in The Last Boyscout or Armageddon? Same thing with comedies, adventure fillms, and horror. Probably most predominately with horror. Their names are etched into our collective psyche.
Chig was right. The 80's did suck, but a lot of the movies didn't.
Permalink Reply by Artie Fufkin on January 10, 2013 at 7:14pm I have fond memories of happy 80's times under that pesky threat of nuclear destruction, well it was better than listening to the shitty excuse for mainstream music.
Fuck duran duran and the rest grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Permalink Reply by Woosp Vision on January 10, 2013 at 11:31pm I am with you 100% on direct to video stuff. It is probably the biggest influence on who I am today (which is rather a scary thought). If it were not for my brothers amazing babysitting skills and his use of the top loading VHS my mind would not have been thoroughly polluted by the time I was 8 and the start of the '90's. My springboard to the stars!
I fucking love me them big ex-rental covers. Love.
