If it's crap ... We'll tell you
This might be toughest year to predict who’s going to win Best Picture. For the past four years, it’s been between two movies. But this year is different. We have 4 movies that could take home the gold. Here are the true front runners
Les Miserables: I feel this movie has a good chance of winning. Tom Hopper director of Kings Speech did an amazing job with the source material. Shooting this live was the best choice he could’ve made. All of the emotion in singing matched to the facial expression. He may have been snubbed on Best Director, but Best Picture could be in his grasp. If you saw my top 10 list, you know this was my second favorite of the year. It was really close being number 1. That’s saying something, since I love The Dark Knight Rises. I’m a huge fan of the book, love the 1998 version, and I’m currently playing Thenardier in the play adaptation of it.
Argo: I remember seeing the trailer for this movie, when I saw The Dark Knight Rises for the third time. I instantly knew I would love this film. I did and wow did it clean up at some award shows. Ben Affleck I forgive you for Perl Harbor and Daredevil now. An awesome cast and great direction, makes this movie a true contender for Best Picture. One of the only doubts I have for this movie, is that it won Best Drama at the Golden Globes. From what I can tell, the movie that won Best Drama, usually do not win Best Picture. Avatar, The Social Network, and The Decedents are good examples.
Zero Dark Thirty: This movie has been getting praised left to right. Made by the director of The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty exceeds The Hurt Locker with a gripping story about the hunt for Osama. The Academy may have looked over Bigelow for Best Director, but Best Picture could be in its grasp. The slow middle could hurt the chances of Best Picture. I didn’t think the middle was slow, but I could be the minority
Lincoln: The front runner for Best Picture. Lincoln was an easy Best Picture front runner with an amazing performance by DDL and great director by Spielberg. The Academy just eats up films about presidents, except for the one without vampires. I don’t see anything that could hurt this from winning Best Picture.
Every movie in this category has a chance of winning, but these are the films that have a really good chance of taking home the gold.
So what movie do you think will win Best Picture?
Permalink Reply by Ohstate411 on January 20, 2013 at 9:14am I finally saw SLP, and it was really good. But I don't think it will win Best Picture. The Academy usually throws in a Romatic Comedy in the Best Picture category. But hey, we won't know until next month!

Permalink Reply by Penny Dreadful on January 23, 2013 at 7:20am I want to think Les Mis will win best picture (beacause I love les mis) but I know Lincoln will win the Oscar because it's a Spielberg movie and stars Daniel Day Lewis. Fuckin boo.
Permalink Reply by Penny Dreadful on January 23, 2013 at 10:41am I liked Lincoln, but I thought Les Mis was AMAZING. Les mis is my favorite book, one of my favorite musicals and I have a 24601 tattoo so my opinions a little biased lol
Permalink Reply by Zulzon on January 23, 2013 at 9:38am Actually as the award ceremony approaches I find myself believing more and more that Lincoln will not win Best Picture.
Permalink Reply by Penny Dreadful on January 23, 2013 at 10:50am I was surprised that Lincoln only won one golden globe and based on the golden globes I wouldn't predict that Lincoln will do well at the Oscars. However Spielberg has won a few Oscars in his time and knows everyone in Hollywood and the Oscar committee aren't above a favor or two. How else would a shitty movie like Shakespeare in love win seven Oscars?
Permalink Reply by Zulzon on January 23, 2013 at 11:46am Dude, Shakespeare in Love was not a shitty movie!
Permalink Reply by Ohstate411 on January 23, 2013 at 1:29pm You seriously think, that Les Miserables was an awful film? If you don't like it, that fine, you have your own taste. But saying it's an awful film, is totally different. You're saying it's poorly made, bad acting, bad writing, bad direction, and so on, which Les Miserables is none of that. You may not like it, but that doesn't make it an awful film. There are films that I do not like, but I know the movie isn't awful or bad, it's just not for me.

Permalink Reply by Ohstate411 on January 23, 2013 at 4:02pm If this movie really makes your blood boil, i'd hate to see what an actual awful movie of 2012 would do to you. Just because you don't like how the movie is shot, it doesn't mean the movie is awful. If Hooper is a awful director, i'm pretty sure the Oscar would've went to Fincher two years ago.

Permalink Reply by Penny Dreadful on January 23, 2013 at 4:33pm A lot of the people, myself included, like the book and the stage musical. Regardless if it was the worst directed movie ever we were going to love it. I really liked The king's speech but even I have to agree the direction in Les Mis isn't that good. Still the music and the story were good atleast?
