does anyone else think that the human race as a whole has a severe lack of confidence?? hence all these "creation" myths? which are pretty similar, probably something to do with racial memory...it's fascinated me for years. all i can see is a instrument of control..perpetuated by so called prophets...or con artists...
I'm an atheist...and I know tons of atheists. I tend to just not give a shit about the religious people. If they are unhappy unless they have the feeling that some higher being is looking out for them...then that's their problem.
everyone needs a crutch of some kind, and yes i kind of agree i am an atheist but have no really problem with faith/belief as such, but organized religion is bullshit, just thought up by people how really hate the idea of others having a good time
Once they start crusades to change other peoples beliefs or ask people who don't have money to donate to reach some heavenly place when they die...that's when I'm against it...so I guess I agree with you on the anti organized religion stuff.
I am orthodox in theory but I can't say I recognize Jesus in his divine form.Yes I know it sounds Jewish but let's face it in 313 at the Milan Edict the New Testament was re-written by the Romans so that they can use Christianity in order that the Emperors can have semi-divine power wich happened.
Going back in the Viking age Harald Blåtand(Harald Bluetooth) converted the Danes to christianity so that he will have more power.Again it happened.

I don't respect people who take every word of the Bible literally (as much as I may want to, I just can't. It annoys me to be around someone so indoctrinated into something I think is stupid). I don't even respect religion really. It bothers me, and I can't wait for it to go away because it doesn't make sense in our world anymore, and it needs to be abandoned.

It sounds like people have more of a problem with people then faith or religion. Wherever you look people are gonna fuck things up. Religion is just another example. Is it fair for me to say every president is a dipshit because bush and obama were?
It really doesn't matter tho. One day you guys will get what you want. Or at least what you thought you wanted...
The problem I find is that I do care about religion, it maintains an influence over our lives even if you are an atheist, issues like stem cell research, drug use, euthanasia every single political issue that becomes some kind of moral/ethical issue, the activities of the catholic church in africa and the way they handle the whole boy fucking incidents, the treatment of science and scientists for hundreds of years, the encouragement of unequal rights, the perpetuation of wars, and that just the western church.
I live in england which is pretty secular but even so we still have a lots of problems for example faith schools are growing in number and we still seem to be continuing the crusades. i honestly hope that religion dies out, it is a living relic from a time when we didn't know jack shit about the world compared to what we know now or have known for at least 200 years like gravity, germs, genes etc.
We no longer need religion all it is now is a crutch for people to feel better about their lives, WE all need a crutch of some kind to get us through our days for some it is coffee, some it is smoking and others it is 'god', i don't see a problem with that, my problem is probably best described by this graph....
This graph assumes that the rate at which science advances is based on the linear progression of time, which is why it is incorrect. Also, the history it covers is mostly Eurocentric. You seem to forget that scientific advances were taking place at that time of the Dark Ages, just not in Europe. In the Islamic world, they were making advances in astronomy, mathematics and medicine.
without morality based on some type of higher code then we are lost... All we would have to fall back on is government which is shit.
Western Civilization itself was spawn from religious movements
Thall shall not commit murder ect ect where do you think those concepts came from?
we still seem to be continuing the crusades
You sound like janeane garofalo you are a lot dumber than I thought if you compare an increase in faith based schools with the crusades. The only religion still involved in a Crusade are the Muslims, and there Crusade will continue until the end of time... That's a little prophecy for you
Heathens with no moral compass wouldn't be exploring space... you would be raping your mothers and hoping your neighbor didn't eat you.
Matt, Jack, & Jon are three eloquent young gents. They philosophize, externalize, and harmonize on the most pressing subjects of the modern age. Actually, they mostly just talk about movies and current events, but the presentation is what counts.
I rarely watch a movie when im that tired but the ones i remember laughing histarically at wer. LITLE NICKY and HALF BAKED, yes those movies are funny but i dont know why but i was over the top with my laughter when i watched them.
So have you ever…
This is an article I did for my high school's newspaper. I haven't given it to the teacher in charge yet, so this most likely won't be the final edit. The movies are separated by year, but its still the top 50 highest grossing movies of this decade.…
