i like malmsteen to a point. some of his stuff sounds brilliant, while other parts sound corny and overdone. He is incredibly skilled tho

if you want fast, you need Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce

but for best, I have to go with the masters of guitardom: Chuck Berry and Jimi Hendrix

Best riffs-tony iommi of black sabbath
best solos-im saying jimmy page
and for fun im throwing in les claypool for bassist. :)

The two best are:
Jimmy Hendricks- most talented
Pete Townshend- most influential

I have to somewhat disagree with hendrix being most talented. The guy is in my top 3 favorite, but it was for his feeling of the guitar not his skill. Listen to Stevie ray vaughn, and it's hendrix but cleaner, HOWEVER, hendrix had the soul. Hendrix created the machine gun, dive bombs, and overall beautiful chaos that was his sound.

I'm going to have to second John Petrucci, who is not only fast AND accurate, but can also write solos that are extremely tasteful and sometimes slower and more melodic. But Dream Theater are like, my absolute favourite band in the whole world so thats a bit of a biased opinion coming from me.

davy graham, richard thompson, steve albini, jeff hanneman, nile rodgers, eddie hazel, takeshi mitzutani to name a few, couldn't pick "a best", but felt i had to colour the undoubtedly metal slant of the choices underneath..

Matt, Jack & Jon are three eloquent young gents. They philosophize, externalize, and harmonize on the most pressing subjects of the modern age. Actually, they mostly just talk about movies and current events, but the presentation is what counts.
