Who has the higher survival rates- Storm Troopers or Redshirts?
Since both were cannon fodder in their respective series let me be more specific- a Storm Trooper from the original 3 films (IV, V, VI)
And the 'red shirts' from 'Star Trek- The Original Series'
And the 'red shirts' from 'Star Trek- The Original Series'

Reds would come out worse
1) I don't know how people forget that if they shot Luke and the gang on Tatooine, the movie would've been only 30 minutes long. Lets not also forget, they wiped out an entire group of Tusken Raiders and Jawas pretty well.
2) How many times have Phasers have been set to stun? You know how many times blasters have been set and used on stun? Once. Best style for anything, my friends. Shoot first, ask questions later.

Storm Troopers die WAY more often than Red Shirts... Death Star numbers alone make sure of that, and that happened twice. Include Clone troopers in those numbers and they're definite goners. I mean Red Shirts never got taken out by Ewoks.

but they have by clouds of gas, oil stains, you name it a red shirt has been killed by it, and you can't include death star numbers in the equation, nor clone wars, especially since the question is original star wars vs original star trek

I think this one is pretty obvious once you go past total death count. Yeah, more Storm Troopers are pushing daisies, but then again it was a WAR. Red Shirts in the original series were never in a war.
However, there were often Storm Trooper survivors in EACH film. Red Shirts died EACH AND EVERY SINGLE TIME in the original series. So I go with Storm Troopers as better survivors. Hell, if you need more proof, go watch the Hoth battle sequence again. Most not only survived, but they beat the shit outta the Rebels.
