One, the reason for Why They Fight The Good Fight.
Batman: Became a hero because he was unable to defend his parents at eight tears old, from a gunman. The trauma from that moment has carried on into his adult life. He developed his mind and body to battle against crime, using his fortune and an image designed to terrorize others.
Superman: The lone (for a while. Yes I know about New Krypton.) survivor of a highly advanced race. He was raised by a farming couple in Kansas, taught basic family values and morals, and then discovered at his coming-of-age his true heritage. Along with a plethora of abilities. Basically a demigod, he could easily become a villian or simply not involve himself with the affairs of human. Instead, he desides to help them in any way he can, to become a symbol of hope to all mankind.
Winner: Superman. Batman feels like he has no choice but to become the Dark Knight, because he can't handle his own damage otherwise. Superman DECIDED to become a hero, to be humble and good, to become an icon.
Two, villians. All good superheroes need a reason to battle. A nemesis to equate the opposite aspects of their character and purpose. The more powerful and capable the villian, the harder thehero must struggle to win and prove his mettle
Batman: For the most part, Bat's rogues live in Gotham and have few if any abilities. Often with a bizarre gimick, his bad guys and girls are at his own level. Human, skilled, with a simple name...and rarely operate outside the city. Most have similar damage to Batman. His most well-known is the Joker, a crazed psycho with a chemically altered apparence. Now there have been a few stories where the Joker threatens the world at large, but these are rare and often easily put down.
Superman: Same here, but Capeboy often has to battle villian of a global or even cosmic level. Luthor is definately a global threat, a villian so good he often convinces governments and people to follow him, EVEN WHEN THEY KNOW HE'S A VILLIAN! For a global threat, you can select beings like Darksied. Yes, ThaShining, Batman once dodged the Omega Beam....but Superman has been hit by them and kept going. Bats knows he has no chance against Darksied one-on-one. And if you've been reading, Bats is currently under the effect of the Omega Mandate, not Supes (so far)
Winner: Superman. Joker is the coolest villian around, but unless you live in Gotham you're not too worried about him. Luthor,however......
Three, morals. Yes, morals. I still believe superheroes are to teach us the better part of ourselves. That there is always a way for good to trimuph. That if you work hard enough, you can and will find a way to win.
Batman: This guy has survived a shitstorm of trauma and grief. His parents, lovers, Robins, friends. People shot, stabbed, beated, blown up, crippled and even once eaten. And at last, losing his mind and his cowl. Batman is a survivor of the first order. He shows you can survive anything and if you use your brains and guts there is nothing you can't do. If you're loaded and have had 15-20 years of spuer-intense training and several allies. I do question his continued 'lone wolf' mentality, especial since he often asks for the help of those same people he brushes off.
Superman: He lost his people, his culture, his identity, and even his adopted father. He has been alone among humanity for a long time, til he found his cousin...andeven then he never felt a true part of her life. He made Clark Kent in part to hide him and in part because he sees human like Clark....weaker and occasially smaller. And he's right. I say this now, Superman is NOT stupid! He can understand, repair and build Kryptonian technology...which is several centuries past us. Even Batman is not near the expert he is...and Supesdid not grow up lwith it. He had to learn it. His values are simple. Protect, defend, help and ask for nothing. He wears a bright costume to be seen. He could easily kill and destory, but goes out of his way not to...and still manages to win.
I like both,and one's not better then the other.Their both great for diffenent reason's.I like batman,but i'll go with superman.I don'y alway's like batman's comics,but i've never seen a superman comic that I didn't like.
pretty sure batman is better cuz he has totally kicked Superman's ass ( plus all he has to do is have kryptonite on his person to stop supes from even touching him), is a much better character, cooler villains, better books, and bats isnt a naive boy scout. And his supporting cast is better ( Jimmy, louis and supergirl vs batgirl, nightwing, robin, huntress, oracle, and red robin (tim drake)
If we mean which is your favourite for frivilous fandom comic book geek reasons, I'd got with Batman just because his stories were always much more interesting. His Detective shorts are a good read, and it's his brooding sleuthing I found impressive, not the gadgets or the grim-as-fuck costume or the beatings he dishes out. (Though those are pretty rad, too.)
Superman... is just kind of simple. Of course everyone's gonna love the guy that can do nearly anything impossibly fantasical because of his own out-of-this-world talents that were bestowed upon him. He's pretty much perfect in every way and I find it rather dull.
Bats is just a normal man who used all his mortal resources to get his hero powers. He doesn't need super strength and flying abilities, he's just clever, daring and strong-willed enough to get the job done.
Now, I sympathise with Superman much more, due to the fact he sort of had that John from Watchmen issue of being so god-like he's kind of unreachable, being deemed the world's number one perfect hero boy. It's lonely at the top, etc. Yet he still hangs onto a pretty hopeful and pure attitude.
Batman's parents died. Okay, dude. That blows, we get it. You're very bitter and shit. So you use fear to mindrape and then asskick your foes, hey, it's still cool. I just sort of found it lame that plenty of other heroes had way shittier ways of losing loved ones but didn't dwell on it nearly as hard.
It's why I always found it delicious when he and Green Lantern would clash something fierce. Man with No Fear glaring at Mister Fear's-How-I-Roll.
Batman. As much as I like Superman it isn't as big of a decision to become a hero when you're practically invincible. Batman is human and becomes a hero for purely human reasons. This is just one reason but it is the one that stud out the most when I was younger.
Batman is just more interesting. Superman was born with these powers, but Batman held a grudge and built his way to the top. Plus the villains in Batman are more iconic and psychologically diverse.
Matt, Jack, & Jon are three eloquent young gents. They philosophize, externalize, and harmonize on the most pressing subjects of the modern age. Actually, they mostly just talk about movies and current events, but the presentation is what counts.
