Say Anything- Favorite band of all time. Genius songwriting. Proves that not all pop-punk is about melodramatic girl problems to three chords.
Against Me! - Obviously prefer the older stuff but still think New Wave is a great record. Emotionally powerful folk punk with great political messages that don't shove anything down your throat.
Bright Eyes - Sometimes you just gotta listen to some Nebraskan boy sign about drowning his depression in alcohol to a full orchestra. Even if you think the lyrics are too melodramatic, Bright Eyes is some of the most beautiful folk rock around.
Brand New
Explosions in the Sky - Goddamn these guys make gorgeous fucking music. Instrumental rock that puts so much care and emotion into every last note. I cry every time I play through Those Who Tell the Truth Shall die... they're just that beautiful
