Every year there are many disappointments that come to theaters, whether they are highly anticipated sequels, reboots, remakes or films that feature Oscar winning directors, writers, and actors that fall flat and makes us wonder what the hell happened. This is where you can talk about those films. Three movies come to mind: Iron Man 2, Spider-Man 3, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I was crazy in love with the first film and Iron Man 2 had a great start, but then had a slow dull middle, before getting to an ending that had what I was really looking forward to, and ultimately it saves the movie for me. Spider-Man 3 does the same thing, but the introduction of Venom and Black Suit Peter Parker and his dancing just ruins the film for me and it never recovers. Easily my most disappointing film is Transformers 2. I was a huge fan on Transformers: Armada the cartoon, had several of the toys, and the first film was a lot of fun. The trailers made me think it was gonna be a darker film, and I usually like darker films. Then I heard some the reviews, and my hopes dropped. And watching the film, it has a couple of my favorite action scenes, but some of the worst humor and the slowest pace of any film. Alright I'm done. Sorry for the length. Your turn.

The Protector, only movie I have walked out on.
I'll probably get some flack for this but honestly Avatar was a disapointment. Don't get me wrong I did watch it twice, once in 2d and once in 3d. The 3D was awesome but once you sit down and watch the movie itself, it really is a very boring movie. The characters seemed to have left all their personality at the door and the story was recycled, if there wasn't that awesome flying scene about midway through, I probably would have walked out the 2d showing. After hearing all the hype about the movie I was excited for it but my theater wasn't doing the 3D version when I first went. Thinking the movie itself had enough substance, I went anyway. Low and behold the gimmick of 3D was what made this movie great since in every scene where they're jabbering on trying to make a point that has been made dozens of times before, you're looking at this trippy bugs or plants floating around. Though when you're forced into actually watching the movie, it's quite boring. I just didn't see what was so great about it, a movie needs to be more than just a 3d gimmick in my opinion.
That's Episode one all over for me. Wasn't the most disappointing though.

Star Wars:The Phantom menace. It's hard for anyone born after around 1970 to understand what a big deal Star Wars was to my generation, but I was 13 when it was released, and at that time it was head and shoulders the best thing I'd ever seen, nothing else even came close.

Fast forward to 1999, I had deliberately avoided reviews/spoilers and sat down in a cinema to watch Star Wars for a new generation, and it was absolutely terrible, so bad I wondered at one point if I hadn't wandered into a "You've been framed" scenario, where a TV host was going to walk in at the end and tell us all we'd been tricked and this wasn't the new Star Wars at all. By the end I think I was in a state of shock, it's hard to come to terms with the coolest thing from your childhood being ruined so thoroughly.

RedLetterMedia covered many of the problems in his well known and excellent 70 minute review, but he skipped on the worst aspects for me, which was basing many of the aliens on racial stereotypes, particularly Jar-Jar which seemed identical to "blackface" so called comedy of the early 20th Century, and completely destroying the whole Force concept by making it a result of microbes in the bloodstream.

Not just bad, offensive. The only other movie I've watched that falls into that category is the afore mentioned Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen, but that wasn't a new addition to one of the greatest movie trilogies ever made, and thus my expectations weren't that high to begin with.
I was born in 1973...and at the tender age of 4 I saw the first Star Wars film. It's one of my earilest memories and from there on in I was hooked.

The Phantom Menace....my god...I could have sworn there was no way to mess this up, no way to kill those wonderful dreams I had. And yet Lucas did it. He went OUT OF HIS FUCKING WAY TO DESTROY EVERYTHING I LOVED ABOUT THE FRANCHISE! I can't even watch the films anymore, because it literally hurts to think about them. I believe that was the film that started my bitterness toward the film industry.

Never again.
Me and my friends were ready for an awesome movie night and we were told from one of the friends that was with us that The Fourth Kind was an extremely frightening movie and he even went with us to see it a second time. That movie sucked horse cock! They actually expected us to believe and not even question the extreme absurdity of they film, completely ridiculous and they shamelessly tried to have two screens one showing supposedly real footage that absolutely wasn't! I felt like a fool who'd been tricked and ripped off.
Angels And Demons was absolutely terrible, I thought the first movie was ok but this was soul crushingly boring, the setting was boring, characters were boring, religious mumbo jumbo and the action was pish and it was somethin like 2 1/2 hours long, I was desperate for the film to end.
The Last Airbender

I don't think anyone's to blame other than Shyamalan. I mean, think about it. It's an accurate adaptation, so it would make sense for the producers of the show to accept it since it would also bring in big bucks. The special effects artists at ILM did a decent job, the music was beautiful, and while the action scenes were repetitive, the choreography itself was at least decent. Shyamalan wrote the script, so that would explain the half-assed story and terrible dialogue, While the bland performances did play a big part in how bad the film was, Shyamalan was the director, so if he had given them some kind of direction, they probably wouldn't have done as bad as they did. It's pretty clear he didn't give them any direction. Also, Shyamalan was the producer, so he played a big part in choosing who would be involved with the film, including the actors who aren't even racially accurate.

I liked his work before, but now, I want to crucify him.
When I saw I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, I was really disappointed when they didn't fill a tire with gasoline and put it around Tucker's (Matt Czuchry) shoulders and light it on fire.
A Series of Unfortunate Events and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, I thought both film strayed to far from the source materials for me. I read both series and was disappointed in both of film adaptations.
A series of Unfortunate Event- I respect your opinion, but I think it's obivous to different from the book because it's based on First FREAKING three books! Do you expected to see 13 SOUE movies each year rather watching three books in one???? Things that are made this movie descent is that the direction and Jim Carrey himself. If you hate this movie, then you don't like film adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicle too.
Prisoner of Azkaban, first time I didn't like it, but after watching this many times- it gets better. Because the whole plot makes sense. Truly one of the most underrated Harry Potter movies.
