What are your favourite educational books?
It's an interesting topic I've thought up this evening, but not all educational books are dull. Some may have been what made us choose our careers, be it Science, nature, art, or even film. And they can be written ina style that is engaging and entertaining, rather than just out-lining the facts.
So, what are your favourites? Mine would be the series of books by Stephen Hawking. Outside of studying Physics, I just love how he manages to explain very detailled theories, in very simple ways. :) They're fun, and edicational at the same time.

As someone who studies philosophy, I have collected a few "an introduction to 'x' field of philosophy". I have introductions to theories of human nature, applied ethics, informal logic etc. I like those nice, understandable, easy-to-read philosophy books.

Cool, it's always great to read books in your area of study, that don't feel like study notes. :P They have amuch more "casual" feel to them, and yet still have all the information you can wish for. :)

Yea I consider myself a book noob but any book dealing with astronomy or archealology is fine by me.

This book is extremely detailed and well-written, with lots of great photos of all sorts of animals. The book gives details about a wide variety of animals, from coral, flies and microscopic stuff, to the more conventional stuff like reptiles, birds, fish and mammals. There's tonnes of stuff to learn from this book about all different aspects of animals also, as it's separated into categories like behavior, communication and sex and reproduction.
