What are aspects of superheroes you don't like/don't like to see brought up?

As it says on the title, I just wanna know if you have that pet peeve about a superhero you do like, just superheroes in general.

I'm personally, someone who's got an atypical view of superheros from some comic fans I know, so I don't usually have problems with stuff. Some examples of what is atypical: I like Starfire in the new 52, hated static in the new 52, okay with superheroes overtly killing and wish more superheroes had a more overt sex life (especially within teams). I'm not talking about something over the top like the "dark ages" of the late 80's to early 90s, but something much more grounded.

Wow. I just read those names. It was until today, that I realized just how silly comic book villains' names were. Toyman? MAJOR DISASTER?....were they even trying?

Toyman is a scary concept, he uses your childhood to literally make living nightmares, imagine if you came home to find your child being electrocuted by their ps3.

imagine if you came home to find your child being electrocuted by their ps3.

I can imagine it without this "toyman" fellow. I'd also tell my kid that's life telling them to get off the ps3, go outside, and play.

As for the character, "using childhood to literally make living nightmares" is a colorful way of saying " he makes dangerous gadgets in the form of toys." In essence, it's basically all he does. I can't, for the life of me, understand how he would come close to making a great villain for Superman. It's just too silly a concept for me to take seriously as a threat for Superman.

The Mongul character strikes me as another generic villain. Just another brute with super powers that match and/or are greater than Superman's. He seems to be inspired by the Thanos and Darkseid type of characters. However, in terms of motivation I'd say I enjoy Thanos much more than the others. Speaking of Darkseid...

Darkseid's design just grates my artistic soul. I understand that for his time his design was considered decent. I just don't get how it's survived this long. The penis-head, the buff-guy in thigh-highs...it just looks terrible to me. I get he's DC's Dr. Doom. But they really missed the mark with him, in my opinion. He's supposed to be a self-proclaimed god of death, but he looks nothing of it. His backstory is meh, as well.

As a Marvel kid growing up, I found several DC stories difficult to get into. Maybe I just have a bias towards their(Marvel) lore, but I just can't wrap my head around some of the DC comics superhero universe without giggling a bit. Now their NON-superhero stuff, I'd say DC/Vertigo has Marvel beat by a mile. Fantastic stuff there...

On one hand, I like Darkseid's simple look. It's uncomplicated, direct, and highly recognisable. He looks eternal, grim, utterly inhuman. That and the fact that his eyebeams can follow you anywhere and if you're not Superman-level tough, you're fucking dead makes him a brown-pants villain if there ever was one.

On the other hand...yeah, i can see why the look seems WAY out of date. The wife beater, briefs, thigh boots and seperated cowl is very 1950s. Theproblem is, how do you update him without complicating the look and losing the image?
You asked if they were trying not if they were good fits for superman. Which with atleast toyman, I have to say in ths 50s it was pretty inspired to think the person who makes your childhood memories would make your favorite items into deadly machines,

Mongul is basically a warlord, he is brutish but also is a sportsmen

Gods of death/of the dead aren't all that intimatdating pyshically compared to darksied, if you ever look up Hades' psyhical discription, he's basically Edward Cullen(square jaw, pale skin, lankey with a touch of muscle) with black hair. Thanatos looked anywhere between Leonaids from 300 and a beautiful angel denpending on art. Anubis is probably the most intimidating god of death, as he's solely discribed as jackal headed with a warriors body. The buff craggy kinda cracked stone skin, penis head and long boots or not, I'd be more prone to shit my pants if he came at me.

Female superheroes who act like annoying feminists

Superheros who fight each other for absolutely no reason and could had been avoided by simply talking it out.
