What are aspects of superheroes you don't like/don't like to see brought up?

As it says on the title, I just wanna know if you have that pet peeve about a superhero you do like, just superheroes in general.

I'm personally, someone who's got an atypical view of superheros from some comic fans I know, so I don't usually have problems with stuff. Some examples of what is atypical: I like Starfire in the new 52, hated static in the new 52, okay with superheroes overtly killing and wish more superheroes had a more overt sex life (especially within teams). I'm not talking about something over the top like the "dark ages" of the late 80's to early 90s, but something much more grounded.

Come to think of it...I would like to see more natural bodies. Sure, constant fighting would get you into great shape...but it shouldn't make you a pro body builder either. Think Gertrude of the Runaways.
There are various tropes that deal with the unasuming strongman
Namely

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CuteBruiser (molly from runaways takes #1 in comic section)

Then there's the scary fact you got to remember they may be holding back their power

If this caused a wiki walk I'm sorry.
Nice. Very nice. Even had one of my favorite JLU quote (World of cardboard WAS followed by a Moment of Awesome.)

It's why he's one of my fav heroes, as played-out as it may seem. It's not that he has all those powers that makes him a great hero. It's that he has restraint with his powers, where other weaker men would abuse them. Though he's not perfect, he's a great representation of super-hero with good moral standing. Now if only he can get a good set of villains, people would get more interested in him.

Funny, I thought he had an excellent villain set....underused, yes, but excellent. Superman to me represents the best kind of hero, and it has nothing to do with his powers. It's the fact that he chooses to be a hero...he has really driving force to become one, other than he knows its the better thing to do, and because he wants to help. He could easily become a major villain or dictator, and hells there is little reason why he SHOULDN'T by comics logic.

But in his heart, he's just a farm boy from the Kansas wheat fields that wakes with the dawn and does his chores, works the land and lives off it, that enjoys the simple things in life like friends and family. A being with the power to pimp-slap a GOD OF DEATh around like a ragdoll...and he would rather give you hand with your homework or sit on the pouch with a glass of lemonade and talk about whatever. If Superman is any sort of paragon, it is of the Common Man's Dream.

Really? Cause as big a Supes fan as I am (and thats really fucking big), I can honestly count the number of good villains he has on one hand. Its like Luthor, Darkseid, Parasite, Mxyzptlk, and Bruno Mannheim on a good day. Metallo is alright too, I guess, in a Shocker type "thug who has cool fights" way.

What, no Brainiac? Bizarro? Toyman? Everyone else on Apokolis? Doomsday? Major Disaster? General Zod? Mongul?

... I gueeeeess.

I mean, aside from Braniac and Toyman, I cant honestly think of any times these characters have really struck me as great. General Zod has his few moments of brilliance, but he's too undeveloped and under-utilized to be great. Mongul is just sort of poor-mans Darkseid. Bizarro, again, really lacks definition and I cant really get behind a character with that many conflicting interpretations behind him. And I guess I was counting the other Apokoliptians as extensions of Darkseid, like Intergang to Mannheim.

I mean, none of those guys are bad really, just not great.

Well, let's see:

Doomsday killed Superman. It happen. Yes, duex es medicina saved him but he still died...for a day.

General Zod has gotten better recently, especially during the New Krypton stories and the aftermath. having a military genius with Superman's power levels is a bit of a scary thing.

Mongul murdered over 20 million people in about 30 seconds when War World incinerated Star City. Later, they did develop him more into a Gengsis Khan like villain...a brutal warlord that could think and even be reason with...IF he benefitted him. A bit less of Darkseid's 'I am evil...because...shut up!', and more...greedy?

...don't get me started on Granny Goodness. I love Granny Goodness...

I agree that many of the ones I mentioned are under-used as HELL, and could be a lot more than what they are.

@einrick: considering the times and eras they were named in...they likely seemed cool at the time. Then again...Batman? Superman? Aquaman? Green arrow...cause...ya know...he wears green....

...starting to sound like Camelot, isn't it....

Theres more to a villain than their "accomplishments". Lex Luthor isnt a great villain cause he kills lots of people, he's great because he's complex, interesting and works amazingly well with his nemesis, the hero.

Doomsday is a dude who punches another dude until he's dead. There is literally nothing to that character. No complexity, intrigue, sympathy or depth. He's a dude who punches things. He's only noteworthy because the dude he punched until he was dead was Superman.

Same goes for Mongul. Whether or not he massacred a bunch of people, there's just not enough to him to be considered great. Again, he's basically poor mans Darkseid.

Doomsday has the complexity of that he can't be killed or injuried the same way multiple times. Also, I'm hoping that wih the new 52 that he'd be reintroduced the way lex luthor in the bronze age as something less generic (lex wss a kinda, keyword being kinda, generic mad scientis much like doomsday is a generic 90s villain)

I always though Doomsday WOULD have more complexity later on, being a Kryptonian creation....but you're right, they made him a poor man's Hulk.
