If it's crap... We'll tell you

As you people already watch Watchmen and The Dark Knight and these two films don't just rely on that old standby -- being "dark" and "edgy" -- they also take their subject matter into truly adult territory, not just in terms of sex and violence (as in Watchmen in particular) but also in theme. The superhero movie has grown up this past year, and it's Snyder and Christopher Nolan who we can thank for that.
So tell me which one is better and why ?

come on supes im just playing around. if hot girls meant good movies then i might have liked the fantastic four movies.
what entire side plot? i think all you gotta do is talk a little bit about his genetic engineering experiments

Look at it this way.

If you include the island, you're going to have to include the side plot with the writers because their death explains that Ozymandias left no loose ends in his plot. Plus, you also have to explain...

- How the squid was cloned from a psychic's brain and is therefore sensitive with thoughts

-How Ozymandias figured out how to teleport objects, but not to keep them alive in the process.

- How the creature's head was filled with horrific imagery from the artists and writers.

- That the creature was genetically designed to expel the psychic images upon death, which would kill millions, drive thousands insane and give the psychically sensitive nightmares for years.

This would obviously take much MUCH longer to explain than "a machine that replicates Manhattan's power." Not to mention the average audience member (Someone who hasnt read the book) will not understand the squid whatsoever.

So am I happy that the squid wasnt in the movie? No, I'm not, I'm the one who wouldnt stop talking about the chilling image of the dead squid in New York. However, I see why Snyder did it and I think the new ending worked just fine.

you are so wrong, in a movie you don´t need to explain everything, that makes the movie less exiting. the fun with the joker in batman was that you did´nt knew anything about him. the squid could be held secret the hole movie and then burst out of nowhere. without explaining, the things you could achieve was more connection to the characters, becouse you are together about not knowing
I think you could just have Ozy say that he works on genetic engineering...show bubastas, and then say that he can teleport things but they explode when you do so because he didn't perfect the process. I don't think you need all that other stuff about the psychic brain or any of that. then he teleports it and it explodes and they blaim it on aliens. I don't see how that's any less faithful than the Dr. Manhattan ending, or any more complicated. I loved the movie as it is actually, but... honestly I don't understand how it stopped the war. In the book, by saying it's aliens, the world bands together against aliens, but by saying it's Dr. Manhattan...how does that keep the Russians from nuking America? like...why would they then side with us? wouldn't that make america more vulnerable and more prone to an attack? That's the reason why I would prefer the squid.
felt the same here, mike
@ Mike

It makes perfect sense. Not only had Manhattan left Earth, but he is a being beyond loyalties of regular humans. If you read the book, Ozymandias says to Doug Roth "Which do you perfer, Red or black ants....That's exactly how it is with Manhattan" (Paraphrasing) The Russians and Americans understood that, and therefore realized they needed to unite if they had ANY hope of defeating Manhattan. Plus, why would the Russians think America was behind the attack if New York was attacked as well (Probably a few more American cities, I dont remember).
I didn't say the Russians would think the Americans were behind it. What I asked is How does Dr. Manhattan attacking New York cause the Russians to no longer want to nuke the United States. They already knew that Dr. Manhattan existed, and he was the reason they hadn't already nuked the US. Once he turns around attacks New York why would they then change their minds about nuking the US? Obvious the US no longer has Manhattan backing them up.

whereas if the matter was that aliens were attacking, then they'd have a reason to be like, okay fuck war, we have a bigger problem.

Anyway, the point is I still see no reason why they wouldn't use the Squid.
jon, i think the reason why the squid was better, is becouse with a alien you have no knowledge about when it will strike next or how capable and smart it is. jon was a human, and when he´s gone nothing is gonna happen.

now won´t that just put things back to where they were?
how come you never reply to me jon, even though me and mike said about the same thing?
