Watchmen
Well, i saw Watchmen last night, so here goes...
First, i will say i'm not a fanboy, i have read Watchmen twice, and i loved it both times, i didn't think it was unfilmable, actually i always thought that many of it's chapters would be amazing for a movie.
That been said, THIS watchmen movie, just doesn't work...
It is a boring, dense movie. It fails almost every time, in everything it sets out to do.
As an adaptation, sometimes it is faithful, and others, and i'm not necessarily talking about the ending here, it is incredibly UNfaithful. And the changes it makes, however so small, ruin many things from the original source. One example, it's the removal of the last conversation between manhattan and veidt... And the fact, that Manhattan last words, are spoken by laurie, an completely out of context, i thought that was horrible.
Snyder is so busy trying to make everything look so cool, it's exhausting, he clearly is over his head here, pretty much all the time, and this material should have a director capable to tell a story, not capable to do a video clip, which is ultimately what this movie is... an almost three hour fucking mtv video clip. Sure, it looks good, but that really isn't the point with watchmen, and i think everyone is confused about that fact.
The music here, was just awful... Sixties greatest hits...? What the fuck? It was Forrest Gump all over again...! If you use one familiar song, in some crucial moment, that's good... If you put on a familiar track all the time, that just doesn't work Zach! Jeezzz...
And i will agree with, i don't remember wich one of the spill guys said it, but i agree that the movie seems like a parody at times... First time we see Manhattan in Vietnam? Enough said...
Also, what was up with the make up?!
Anywho, as i said, i think the movie fails almost everytime...
I really think this was a very, VERY, bad movie.
Bad as a movie, and as an adaptation.

COME ON, listen if you have read it the comic enough to point that out your a fan boy I've gone through the comic once i liked it i did notice their were things they changed. Ok ok its not the best movie ever i still think it was good.

I hated all of the richard nixon shit. Why the good hell was 19 minutes of nixon necessary. and the beginning bob dylan song lasted ten years.
and in its place they took out important parts of manhattan's and rorshachs past

what did you all expect?? from the "director" of 300 (one of the WORST films ive ever seen)...this will run and run precisely because most people who've actually bothered to read ANY of Moore's work will be at the very least underwhelmed by hollywood's interpretations...and btw dylan's songs are namechecked all over WM, one of the few things synder got right....
