Justified Julius posted a statusWhat do you think running or walking zombies? I am a 13 year old who is very interested in zombies and it is really what got me into horror. Well school starts tommorow and 8th grade will began. So i just thought it would be good to start this discussion. Me personally like the walking zombies better they are disturbing, strong, and they can get you if they get the chance. My problem with running zombies is it's kinda weak filmaking. Its just they will get you either way at least with walking zombies you have a fighting chance but they will get you. I preorderd a game a couple of weekes ago called dead island alot of you might be familer with the title because of its schocking trailer. If you havent seen anything on it i recommend you check it out. But basically what its zombies are like is they start out walking but then start evolving into running zombies. And thats what i would rather have like Dawn of the dead remake did it amzingly well and so did 28 days later. So what do you think? Running or Walking zombies?
Also feel free to check out my page thanks :)

Permalink Reply by MDS on August 23, 2011 at 1:36pm I am sort of mixed on the walking vs running zombies debate.
To me, the running version is the type that you use to tell a "get out of here" type story. Where the main story is to make it from point A to point B type of story. Their speed (and maybe strength) works against you, forcing you to become more "now" decision making process that either works to safe you or kill you.
However, the walking version is the type that you use to tell a "survival" type story. Basically where the main point is trying to create an environment where you can hold out, hole up and maybe survive as long as possible in a world that is forever changed.
Also, there is something that I wish that more people would use with the running version. Yes, they run... but as a "Zombie" they are on a time limit of a few weeks/months before they have just completely deteriorate and aren't around anymore. (At least until the next "outbreak" like they did with 28day/28weeks). I just see that if they are the constant "running zombie types", that it kind of paints your survivors into a corner of never surviving after a few weeks. At least with the walking type, you can continue to struggle to survive. But if all the zombies run, you just can't keep up and eventually you'll be dead.

Permalink Reply by MDS on August 23, 2011 at 5:25pm Meh, I'm not really a fan of 28days or 28weeks.... so not look for or against 28months. It's eventually going to happen, and I'll see it, just not worked up about it.

Walking zombies for me too.
Permalink Reply by Mr.K on August 23, 2011 at 10:00pm I personally like a mixture. This allows for the suspense to really build and if one of the runners pop up, your fear level would spike.
Walking (slow) zombies has a slower build of sense which can create a longer senses of dread of what is to come. Fast zombies are just terrifying when done properly because they will never stop until they make you stop. Combining the two I think can create some very memorable moments.
