It was Total BULLSHIT! I'm sorry but I can't like it, I want to I tried to I watched all hour and 30 minutes prime time version...but what I watched wasn't the walking dead....it was Frank Darabont's Zombie movie. It had great make up and the zombies were on point but I had way to many problems

Let me list some of my problems:
-Acting/Book Inconsistency like
  • Rick's actor is WOODEN, when he cried for his wife and son, he didn't have any tears he had teary eyes but no tears, no red eye. In the book Rick has basically a total emotional breakdown when he meets bicycle girl crying and everything. The actor still hasn't captured Rick's emotional range to me.
  • Shane(Rick's partner) starts off the episode as sexist, a little bit of an asshole, however still rick's  Bud. Which if what happens to him in the comic happens in this series it will change how that situation is viewed because he's not as sympathetic in that situation.
  • Lori first is stated to be a bitch (She said Rick didn't care about her or Carl in-front of Carl to Rick). When you see her later, she doesn't evens seem to care about Rick or if he's in fact alive and has appeared to move on. In the book she seems not to have problems with Rick until after they get back together and even then they still are very much in love. Changing her character like this puts more (unneeded) tension between the couple but at the same time also kills the feeling that their situation is why they're at each others throats later on. oh and have you seen an example of this in the show so far:

-Shots going on toooooo long with nothing happening and it not even being a cool shot not even dialouge.

-Trying to hard to pull on heart strings or leave you in shock.
  • The subplot of the black guy, who was just exposition in the comic is given a crappy ass subplot of his wife being a zombie in the area.
  • The zombies or bodies placed in a way to make them more sympathetic or for shock value
-Weird Zombie actions(more book inconsistency) like
  • The first shot does this as a zombie girl picks up a teddy bear(most likely hers) and carries it like she would in life, the book doesn't do this the zombies are too dumb. In the Second episode it's shown Zombies carrying and using rocks to break open a glass door
  •  In the book to the point it's stated that if one zombie brushes their hand against a door a mob mentality will start as zombies who see that hand brush a door will think somethings behind it. In the show a zombie is shown trying to open a door but nothing happens past that

Wow, you can't accept some one disliking something?
-Dude a character completely being 180 from what you remember them is a nitpick?
-And it's less Zombie Code then it is what Robert Kirkman(who I believe has some hand in making this show still) the writer of walking dead has said his his law on zombies in his universe
-I don't mind if it's not in the comic as long as it's done well and takes the story in a interesting direction however none of what Frank did comes close to that
-You got to admit some shots in that episode were a little long even for a slow paced show like it was this episode.
-I'm not trying to get a rise out of anyone just getting my opinion out there
-plus I could forgive all that if the actors did very good jobs or Darabont made it work seamlessly like having the zombie wife be brought up later when Rick wonders how they're doing. and you got to admit it's kinda weird that a zombie would just laid there like a rug until a human came along
-I believe you can if you try which I'll get to in my last point
-I'm not sure he might be on a play or plenty contract where he has to public endorse the product even if he feels like it's a bastardization of his franchise. It's rare but it does happen.
-yeah that was very off setting after the previous hour and a half of shit he just went though. it would have been better if that was glenn's full introduction not just a voice over a radio and then a cliff hanger
-Some times a title is just a title like The walking dead
-Yeah but they had an hour and a half to do that they could have cut those extra long shots and had an extra 5 minutes open for more character development weather through flash backs or something else. there were alot of places I felt like could have been used better and not just set up the "all hope is lost" feeling this early on, especially after the opening with the child zombie which gave off that feeling.
Shame you didn't like it. I thought it was an excellent adaptation of Kirkman's series.
I just couldn't get my head around what it ignored/changed especially if it keeps alot of the pay off the same
You wanted to hate it.
You are only guessing this man.....seriously you are because I wanted to like it but there was just too much off
i liked it, but i went into it expecting it to suck.

i love the comic, it is what got me into comics in the first place, but i have the comic, this is a different entity, yes from the same source material but you have to look at it as such.

while i have my doubts that the series will be anywhere near as good as the comic, it seems to have started strong, i even liked some of the stuff they added.

in conclusion, it was okay, will i watch it again, yes, were there differences from the comic that made me want to go outside and murder/rape the children of the people involved in the making of it yes, but over all i was satisfied and am looking forward to see where they go with it.

i just hope the series is as dark, depressing and endlessly bleak as the comic
You talked about the subplot with the black guy being crappy. I thought it was pretty heartfelt. A man and his son having the wife/mother literally come back to haunt them. I really felt for the guy when he tried to kill her, but couldn't because that's his wife. I'd cry a river before I had to put a bullet in my dead wife's head. That sublot to me really nailed what a zombie apocalypse is all about. Which is to slowly but surely watching the people you love turn into zombies, and thereby forcing you to kill them. Can you explain why you hated it?
Because I know the black guy didn't have that storyline in the comic so it was awfully out of place to me, and the convenience that his wife would remain in the area. As well as the convenience that, she would be the only one to notice them looking out of the window, then the biggest convenience that she'd be the one to walk up to the door and tried to open door and look through the peep hole and see rick. While the actual attempt at shooting her was well done the set up for it was very out of place to me, a reader of the comic and even as an average tv viewer ,when you consider we barely know these characters or have any emotional attachment to them. That's why I hated that subplot.
Boo fucking hoo it wasn't in the book. Did you expect The Motion Comic version?
No Pryo I expect something not so forced, the thing is while there are some parts of the Walking Dead I'd change in a live action format alot of the changes they made make no sense such as having:
three shooters instead of just one when Rick got shot, having bicycle girl(the one zombie rick shoots at the end of the first issue which was about 45 minute mark without commercials in the show) be a crawler, the Zombie Wife plotline for the black guy would have worked if they built that character more say if they waited until episode 3 to do the shooting scene. it was all too forced to have that all in the first 40 minutes of the show. Lorrie's and Shane's Personality changes were not needed and in fact make me dislike both characters. Also what the fuck was up with all those long cuts?!
As a TV viewer I felt like it wasn't solid as a Comic book fan I felt like this wasn't the walking dead.

it's not about expecting something it's about something just not fitting right
