If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Steven Lara posted a statusAnnoyed by a recent Silent hill title, starts me off on a moral/immoral game choice rant.
What do you think, and how do you feel about this feature in games?
Let me know in the comments.

Permalink Reply by Jordan Royter on May 12, 2012 at 8:36pm Thank you. There are some games, a few of them I mentioned where that is true, that they do feel like they matter, sort of.
Then you get a game like Silent hill:Downpour, where, clearly the choice doesn't matter.
Permalink Reply by son of wolverine on May 12, 2012 at 8:38pm No, I get that like Dragon age or mass effect or skyrim but other you feel like your not even contibuting.
Permalink Reply by Jordan Royter on May 12, 2012 at 8:40pm That's very true too.
Permalink Reply by son of wolverine on May 12, 2012 at 8:53pm I mean you ever play x-men destiny or Lord of the rings war in the north, I love both of those games but I don't feel like any choice was put in it.
Permalink Reply by Jordan Royter on May 12, 2012 at 8:54pm I didn't play any of those. I saw reviews for X-men destiny, and heard it was okay, but not to special. And I really didn't have any interest in it.
Permalink Reply by son of wolverine on May 12, 2012 at 8:58pm Its alright but mainly i like it because i like the x-men.
Permalink Reply by Jordan Royter on May 12, 2012 at 8:59pm I really enjoyed X-men origins:Wolverine. A big surprise that a movie tie in game, that was better than the piece of shit movie.
Permalink Reply by son of wolverine on May 12, 2012 at 9:00pm Yeah ive played the game, really fun.
Permalink Reply by Cambo on May 12, 2012 at 11:26pm another thing with choices is that generally most of the time the moral choices are too simple:
option a) give the civilians kittens
option b) kill the civilians
^although that is slightly exaggerated, the defined 'good guy' or 'bad guy' choice is just as obvious as most other games (mass effect for example where the good choice is always above the bad choice).
I have heard that 'The Witcher' is one of the best titles to have some depth and consequences with choices, I haven't played it yet though... has anyone else?
Permalink Reply by Mo-Mo on May 15, 2012 at 9:29pm I don't know if you talked about it in the video but a game that REALLY shows the illusion of choice is the first Infamous their is a scene in the game where you have to choose between saving your girlfriend and some doctors so i went for the girl turns out she was with the doctors i thought that was a pretty clever twist until i reloaded the game to save the doctors and the girl wasn't their.
Permalink Reply by Jordan Royter on May 15, 2012 at 9:31pm Actually, I do mention that in the video. And in my first play through of that game, I was trying to save her. But I wound up saving the doctors instead.
Oh well, still a very good game.
