If it's crap... We'll tell you

I don't know about you guys, but I used to be a HUGE gamer freak. The games industry lately has been disappointing me across the board, shifting my interest to movies for the search of interesting narratives, but I still fondly remember several games that I treasure for the plots most of all.

Persona 4:

The only Persona game I've ever played and now my favorite JRPG of all time. The mystery of the plot was interesting, in that it asks you to think about and try to guess the solutions of the murders as you go along. Most of all, I love the character interactions in getting to know your friends and deal with their Ids made physical. The essential theme of the plot is about how deep inside, we're all fucked up, but we need to accept and reconcile those dark halves to control those overboard tendencies and become a better, self-loving person. The plot is so deliciously Jungian, I savor it constantly.

Uncharted is pretty damn good. Uncharted 2, dont know if anyone here has played it, is damn near legendary for a video game. The way they mix the story in the action and not just cut scenes works very well. It was one of the best written games I have played.

the other replies are really good too.

I'll second Final Fantasy X. I hate turn based games, so I just watched my sister play through the whole thing. We used cheats to make ourselves stronger because we only cared about the story and wanted to get through as fast as possible.

That style of game kind of lends itself to story though.

GTA 4's main story was pretty awesome. IT was muddied by all that random crap you had to do to get to the real meat and that was a shame.

I really enjoyed the story and writing of both Uncharted games.

I think there were moments in GOW2 that really stood out as well written, especially when compared to the first.

Oh and I think the story for ODST was WAY better than all three of the other Halo FPS games.

I enjoy a good story as much as the next guy, but come on. The primary function of video games is fun and enjoyable gameplay, not the narrative. I don't know why poor storytelling would turn you off of gaming. That's just so weird. It's like disliking movies because of their poor interactivity.

No, Avatar is not an instant classic. I have watched the film twice now once in I-MAX 3D and once in regular 3D. The first time I watched it, I found myself mesmerized by the special effects and the look but feeling a bit empty at the end. It seems…
