So far, it's not knocking me out of my seat. The special effects are great, but the characters aren't winning me over especially with some poor acting. The promos look better than these first eight minutes. And what is up with that ending song? What kind of mood is that supposed to set?
I'm scared to watch it, the original was so good I can't imagine this being anything but a flop. I would like it to be good though. I forgot to DVR this, wonder if I'll be able to see online pretty quick and catch up. Will it be up on Hulu?
Looks interesting. The parts with the mom and son were kind of akward. However, the parts with the priest and couple seemed pretty cool. And did anyone think thtat when the kid said "My God" at the end, it sounded like he was going to say "My God, it's full of stars!"
I'm really REALLY! worried that this will suck hardcore. Being on Tuesdays for only 1hr at a time, but not over a few nights? What are they doing trying to launch the V-series right away without the mini-series first?
Thankfully Sci-fi channel. (Sorry SyFy) will be showing V Tuesday, and I've got the DVR set to record the original mini-series in all it's glory (80's bad-effects) to watch.
i love the original got them on dvd even the second series with the grown up starchild and bates reptile looking son kyle, i'm intruiged by the the new one but not sure when we in the UK will get it but the trailers i've seen looks like some of the humans are idolising/worshipping the visitors i hope this wont have religeous overtones like battlestar did but only time will tell
I loved the original as a kid, and even read the book, but fully admit, it's pretty bad, but if BSG could come out that good in a remake, V had a good chance, so I was hopeful. Caught the fist episode of this, and I got to say, it sucked, hard. The shitty CGI could almost be forgiven, if they weren't trying to cram as many scenes with it, as they could. The acting was ok, but the dialogue and plot were just so heavy handed, especially when they make such a big deal over the reporter who has to compromise his integrity. At the end, I was pretty disappointed. The whole production value was just so poor, forget BSG, or even Star Gate standards this is more like a crumby, hammed up version of Earth:Final Conflict, and not even that good.
I'm not going to lie. This is pretty good so far.
I just wish they were longer, like 2 hour episodes.
Now I get to play catch up when the third comes out so I can DVR it, see the second here, then watch the third.
I still think the original was pretty badass, but this works for me.
I had always hoped for an actual motion picture though. I guess I'll see how this pans out first.
I dont know, I might have to tap out. I dont find myself caring for any of the characters and the pacing is all over the place. If they had waited an episode or two to get into the V's being up to something, maybe just leave hints in the first few epps that would be one thing. give it an emotional blow when you find out that they are killin bitches.
that and everyone is so damn pretty. why not have the old preacher be the one to fight back and have the young idealistic preacher be welcoming to the V's.
yeah. ill give it another episode or so but I dont really like where it is going.
