These critcs were all in a bad mood I bet. What with the big stick up there asses. My thoughts are it's bullshit. And don't you go taking what they say as gospel. The day RT becomes thr final say on what's cool movie wise is the day the business dies.
I don't take what Rotten Tomatoes says too seriously, although, if it's less than 20% i'd be more "Eh I don't know" My only concern is that usually the ratings start off great and then go down, like wolverine started off 88% fresh, and then dropped to 33% rotten. With The Spirit, started low like this, and I guess I don't have to explain after that.
Surprise , surprise .. they hate it . Is it me or did it just look like people just wanted to get over and finish the rating ?? I mean that's a even lower rating than Disaster movie . Or are people just so boring and predictable these days ?? It had to be fun at least .

Fast and Furious started out much, much worse. In fact, the first 11 reviews were all negative and it wasn't until Lisa Schwarzbaum (#12) that it finally got something above 0% and it turned out okay in my book. Still, it obviously might not end up in the better half of movies this season.
