If it's crap... We'll tell you

Trick R Treat has one of the most troubled histories of any film I've seen. Made in 2007, it has had numerous delays and has one been seen only by the few lucky people who have been to horror festivals. Despite stellar reviews by every single horror site on the net and a huge demand by audiences, it only recently was released by Warner Bros. I was very excited to see the film and was not disappointed by the results. Much like Creepshow, Trick R Treat is a horror anthology but all of the stories are melded together perfectly, creating a surprisingly well-crafted story.

Trick R Treat captures the spirit of the holiday like no other film in history. Nearly every Halloween legend is at least glanced upon here but makes them scary. There are huge pumpkins every, costumes everywhere in sight and some great cinematography capturing the holiday.

The stories include a group of kids playing a trick on a nerdy girl, a school principal doing some questionable things to some mischievous kids, a bunch of sluts and their virgin friend who is looking for that special someone, and a cranky, old man whose skeletons come out of the closet for some bloody results. These stories may seem familiar but they all have great endings that make them seem original.

Trick R Treat has been hyped up so much like The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity that I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. It is still a great film but it just didn't blow me away like I thought it would. I am glad that this is finally getting a wide release, even if it is just on DVD. For all of the horror fans that are tired of countless remakes and PG-13 bullshit that is crapped out of Hollywood's ass, this is a great diversion from the physical pain of Hollywood horror.

Trick R Treat is a extremely enjoyable film, although not scary by any means, is a great holiday film. Why this wasn't released in theaters is beyond me but it will find its audience on DVD. I highly recommend watching this alongside Creepshow, another fantastic anthology film.

A really awsome film! I absolutly loved it. I never heard about it till I saw it with only 1 copy left in my local video store. So I checked it out and the only real problem I had was that most of the stories tie ins were kinda lame but thats a minor complaint at best.
