Transformers 2 Plot Holes: Baby Transformers and @#$%ing Allspark Shards

those are the least of the issues with the plot. IF you're going to nitpick at the plot holes around megatron's rebirth it should be that they say 5 decepticons go down. They kill one, making it 4, and then they bring megatron back to life, so there's 5 again, but they say there are six on screen.... hmmmmmm

there are MANY much bigger problems with this film. You explained the allspark thing perfectly. The reason they wanted it in the first film was to bring their planet back to life. The second film they needed to power their weapon in order to get energon by destroying the sun to bring their planet back to life.

IT's basically the same plot as the first movie, different device.

The thing about the number of decepticons, That's more of a small continuity error nothing I would hold against the writer or writers. What I would hold against the writer/writers is wht did the decepticons have to kill one of their own when if you watch the ending of the first movie they dump the decepticon bodies in the trench, Meaning more then one dead should be there. More then enough to rebuild Megatron. Also transformers need parts in this series I thought the metal just comes a live and takes shape?

Now, bring their planet back to life as expained in the first film and breeding our off spring is kind of differnt. From the first film I thought the transformers needed the allspark to bring dead pieces of metal to life like meteorites or something. The second movie shows that transformers seem to have some type of biological means of reproducing. The only issue seem to be power.

Motivation should not be confused with plot. No reason Transformers can't dream all day about bringing their planet back to life, and be the reason they keep doing what they do, long as the writers realize, the difference between motivation and plot, and keep it different. Underlying motive to all of Star Wars 4-6, kill the Empire!
Not defending the movie, just saying, it COULD work if treated better...

the bad thing about the movie is that plot is overlooked by effects. hollywood can make tons of money on brainless movies as long as they put money on it, therefore i ask all you people to not see the g.i. joe movie

The plot of this film is just a rehash of the first. Just replace the word All Spark with Matrix then you get Transformers 2. Actually replace the word All Spark with Matrix and add in racism, up skirt shots, fart jokes, and more explosions then you'll get Transformers 2.
