Kraven the Hunter maybe?

Permalink Reply by Zulzon on December 4, 2012 at 6:32am When was Martin Sheen kicked out of Two and a Half Men? And by that when was he actually starring in that except for one episode in which he was a guest star?

Permalink Reply by Dialtribe on December 5, 2012 at 10:23pm This may be weird but I always loved the Scorpion. He was in the cartoon when I was a kid and he was probably my favorite Spiderman villain, if not favorite Marvel villain.
Scorpions are natural counterparts to spiders so he fits the theme perfectly. I liked the mechanical tail as it reflected the gadgetry that Spiderman uses, so it is perfect for the movie. Spiderman shoots webs, thus "creating" while the Scorpion shot acid, thus "destroying". Spiderman used agility, Scorpion was a brute. Spiderman is a journalist, Scorpion is a PI, both of which involve searching for the truth and involve a similar skill set.
What's more, they both come off as average shmucks. They were both meek, put-upon people with crummy lives given powers. They play off each other well in my opinion. Scorpion was always insulted, and can now fight back. Spiderman generally beat him by playing off his insecurities as a person, even though his inferiority complex should no longer apply given his new powers. He made the perfect counterpart for a guy known for his one-liners.
Given how well they brought Doc-Oc's tentacles to life, I am also interested to see how they translate the tail. It may be silly but I always thought it was a cool weapon. I even begged for a toy that had an articulating tail.
I can never understand why other villains like Goblin, or Venom are liked more than him. Scorpion I think should have been Spiderman's Joker. He is his perfect counterpart.
Permalink Reply by Zulzon on December 6, 2012 at 1:30am I did not know some of the facts you've just stated. It made me like the Scorpion more. Nice presentation!
Permalink Reply by Dialtribe on December 6, 2012 at 3:44am Thanks. Most of these details are from the 1994 cartoon and they might not be in line with the comics. I think he is broadly similar to my description in the early comics, but they did weird things with his character in later years. For a while he became the new Venom which just seems to be a weird move for an awesome character. I also have a lot of nostalgia for the character so he might have been lamer than I remember. He never seems to be that popular a villain in Spiderman's rogues gallery compared to Doc-Oc, Goblin, or Venom so maybe his character is poorly handled or written. I had and still have no real interest to see the newer movies but if they announce that Scorpion will appear in the third I will force myself to get into the new series. Plus, scorpions are the coolest animals ever so logically Scorpion is the greatest villain ever.
