Verry few movies actually scared me.So here is my list in no particular ordes

Nosferatu - not when I actually saw it.But it creeps me out when I think at Count Orlock especially at night.Allmost all the scenes with Count Orlock are Remarkable.
Halloween(1977) - no need to explain why I gues everyone knows
Poltergeist - Only the clown scene.
The Exorcist - again,no need to explain
Night of the Living Dead(1968) - impact similar to that of Nosferatu.Creeps me out when I think at it.
The Evil Dead - Now that's the movie that Realy scared me.It is just a Perfect movie in terms of horrror. In other terms it's horrible but in terms of Horror...Best Horror ever made.It scared the s**t out of me
Drag me to Hell - Similar impact to that of Evil Dead still not as big.Sam Raimi made both of them.Great Horror and is the 2nd Horrror that scared the s**t out of me after Evil Dead

Hey. Harvald, very cool, you brought up "Nosferatu"...I remember seeing it on PBS when I was a little kid and Graf Orlok, creeped me out, too! * the scene where he levitate / springs up from the coffin! Those CLAWS! *
Murnau's lighting & cinematography are Amazing!
It's funny you mention the 'clown" scene from "Poltergiest", as Joel states below,
have you seen Stephen King's "IT"? Thanks for sharing!

Idk bout Blair Witch Project being up there cuz for me i didnt find it very scary and i thought it was kinda dumb, but as for the exorcist, that movie scared the hell out of me when i first watched it and even now that scene where she is running down the stairs on her hands and feet is very disturbing to me so other than the Blair Witch project, the rest are goood choices but i think that Stephen Kings IT belongs up there cuz that movie scared the hell out of me when i was a little kid, scared me so bad i couldnt watch the whole thing at the time and i had to wait a couple of years before i could watch it.

Alien and Aliens are two of the movies that scared the hell outta me when I was a kid. I found it hard to sleep after that. Also, ET; I always felt that wrinkly little character had a darker side to him that he was just waiting to deliver, before they sent him home. Really, if that movie had been ten minutes longer and didn't have ET returning home, it would have been banned in several countries! I'm talking just a full on massacare! And little Drew Barrymore sitting in the aftermath of it all, blood, guts and viscera forming a crimson pool around her. Now THAT, would be a scary movie!

Wow, Browncoat! Lol.. I would DEFINITELY Pay to see THAT version of "E.T."! Thanks for sharing.
"E.T. filet El..leee..et,....OUUUCCCH!"
