This was taken directly from Rotten Tomatoes:

In the conversation about violence in movies, when people point out how violent many cartoons have always been, they are very often referring to Tom & Jerry, who started finding creative ways to kill, maim and disfigure each other nearly 70 years ago in 1940. Somehow, however, I think we can expect their next big project to be toned down just a bit, as Variety reports that Warner Bros is eyeing Tom & Jerry as a way to "create their own Alvin & the Chipmunks-like family franchise." As CGI characters in a live-action world, Tom & Jerry will star in an origin story of how they first meet before getting lost in Chicago, and the definitive cat and mouse rivals have to team up to find their way home. A new screenwriter, Eric Gravning, has been hired to work on Tom & Jerry, which is being produced by Warner Bros' Dan Lin (Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, Sherlock Holmes), and will probably be destroying one of your cherished childhood memories by 2011 or so.

Let's make a movie, where the characters never talk and beat the crap out of each other!

I can see this being interesting on a straight to DVD release for kids and those avid Tom and Jerry collectors from decades passed, but who really cares about Tom and Jerry anymore?

It's like releasing Speed Racer last year, no one really cared about Speed Racer anymore besides the fans that watched it on TV many years ago. You can't make something like an old classic and expect it to be anymore than something shitty.

...then again, add parents into the movie where they get their wide eyed kids a pet. For the boy it'll be a cat and for the daughter it'll be the mouse, and have that misbehaved boy try to get rid of that 'pesky' mouse his sister has. All while throwing in stupid jokes from the parents that will most likely be in the trailer and kids and parents alike will eat that shit up to see as a family.
Who cares about Tom and Jerry? Are you kidding me? Almost every time I mention it, people's faces lighten up with glee.
My face lights up when someone brings up old school Rugrats and Doug, doesn't mean i'd want to see a live action movie of Tommy pulling screwdrivers from his diaper to ride Spike or Doug to get his ass kicked by Percy, Mr Bones nephew.

Then again if Doug were live action, i'd feel bad for him, getting turned down by a girl named after a hamburger, a green arch enemy, a purple fat neighbor who buys stupid shit *which is very expensive*- considering his Vice Principal is Mr Bone and the actual Principal is named Mr Buttsavage i'd feel raped just for watching it....

People think Degrassi is drama, they haven't watched Doug.
doug was depressing man. multi colored people looking for love and acceptance in a cold hard world. and mr. dink was a child predator.

great fucking show
The episode where Doug and Skeeter spend the whole day trying to get Patty's frisbee out of the yard with the pitbull always makes me mad. She didn't care too much since she had a whole box of them at home.
I'm not so sure about this , the last time they made it into a movie they piss off lots of fans.

If they want to stay faithful to the characters they should not talk.
oh my god make it stop
I thought of the tom and jerry movie when I first heard about his review. Why is everything cg. I mean winnie the pooh is not going to be CG so why is this? BTW this is one of a favorite nostalgia critic reviews.
"I'm just going to drink my customary sangria" Epic.
I'm imagining them using Tom and Jerry in the same way the used Garfield for his own special movie a few years ago....FUCK

in comparison to Garfield though...Heathcliff was way cooler, the intro fuckin rocked

Adults get excited about Tom and Jerry....>_>

Anyway, yeah Heathcliff was pretty fun. Wasn't it an anime? It sure acts like it.
