If it's crap... We'll tell you

There are many theories to time travel but in my opinion, the way time travel works is that whenever you go back into the past, you create an alternate reality. So basically, I'm saying that time isn't straight, it goes into different directions. What do you think?

I have been out-tooned by the Globe Trotters and pseudo-science. Perhaps if I threw in some big mumbo jumbo words like Qusi-tripometers and temporal vacuum fields I can get this discussion back on track...

Idk if that's really time travel. As was said before in this topic we are traveling into the future right now but what you suggest seems more like just breaking something down for a certain period before putting it back together at another time. It's kinda like ok so you get broke down and go from 2009 to 2012. For you it may have seemed like a split second but really your going to be at the same speed as normal people, for that gap of time life will still be going on while you are gone. So while YOU may not be involved with the world around you up until 2012 your still existing at a cellular level as the time from time A to Time B passes. In short no form of time travel can really ever happen....at least from what I can make of it.

P.S. Did you see outlander yet? Man after hearing you talk about it I wanna see it again!

"As was said before in this topic we are traveling into the future right now,"

No, we're not. We are experiencing duration. The future and the past are merely concepts we have to express change that HAS occurred or change that WILL occur. There is only the present, which is the current state of change. The idea of a Time "stream" is an imaginary concept used to describe a sequence of changes or events, but is not an actual physical, substantial thing nor a form of energy. It is a mental construct we use to describe change.

Your description of future travel, however is correct. That is exactly what it is. To the observer, however, it is in fact time travel. As Plato said "Time is change". Put someone in stasis of some form, have them experience zero change, and for them there is no time. No duration.

why rip them apart when you could possibly do as in the planet of the apes/alien movies: hyper sleep

To them, I could agree, but isn't the physical space they occupy still experiencing duration in relation to it's immediate, surrounding environment?

AND say we magicallly find a way to go back, there is 99.99% chance that you would be turned inside out and die in the space time continuim.

Time goes in different directions depending on the choice you make, even the small ones. So time flow and our choices would create parallel time lines to our own. As for time travel first of all "time" as we know it is a human concept. To travel back in time is impossible if my theory is correct, instead I think it would be possible to travel to a parallel time line (or world if you prefer). For example lets say you travel back to the 1700s. So yes your in the 1700s but it isn't OURS, it may be extremely different from our own past or it may be just slightly off, so it may be possible to travel from time line to time line but I don't think you can go into the past of the time line you are currently in. However with all the possible different time lines I think it's safe to say that more then a few may be almost totally similar to our own.

well, the question to begin with is science fiction, right now the laws of science forbids us from travelling through time. so this question would be like asking "What number would i get if i divide by Zero." there is no answer because the question doesn't make any sense.

As an expert on the matter of time traveling, I can easily explain to you how it works. First you take a bottle of Jameson, drink it, and suddenly it's 10AM the next morning, your boss has left you 3 messages why you are late for work, and you are somehow naked on your couch (ala Terminator). There is no other explaination on how you got there, or how 7 hours have passed. Time Traveling is a truth

Later I will explain to you all how teleportation works (clue: Rumplemintz).
