If it's crap... We'll tell you

List and we can all discuss little or big things that you love or hate seeing in a movie. Now this does not mean that this makes or breaks a movie or even that i will like a movie if it has these aspects in it.

Love:
interlocking story-lines
montages with music
visually striking scenes

Hate:
unnecessary sex scenes (necessary sex scene= something with meaning and main characters)
music that doesn't match the scenes (There will Be Blood= perfect example)
when people talk extremely quietly and you cannot understand them

So you can list some of yours and respond to mine and we will all discuss

I love:

Food in movies
When anyone shouts "GET OUTTA THERE!!!"
Drinking and drunken-ness in movies
Clues and occultism in the background/hidden

I hate:

This one thing, this one thing that gets me more than anything, and I mean makes me taste bile. It's when they show an animal onscreen and play some animal sound......even when the animal onscreen is obviously not making that sound. As if we wouldn't know a mouse if we didn't hear a squeak, a cat if no mew, a dog if no bark or growl, a snake if no hiss.........usually, animals are silent! O, that get's my goat. Baaaaa!

I also hate forced happy endings.

I dislike when the main character...or characters die at the end. Guess i'm a sucker for a happy ending. Excessive violence and blood just for pure shock value turns me off....the SAW movies come to mind. At least in "Zombieland", there was violence, but comedy and character development as well. The gore and blood was just enough to get the point across about the "infected" and the chracters' fight for survival.

Love:
Interesting dialogue. Aaron Sorkin is a poet with dialogue, and can make even the most complicated scene both understandable and interesting (See the early seasons of the West Wing)
Interesting unique characters. Movies often make rather generic characters to fill their storylines in order to draw the audience in quicker. Personally I find that just lazy.
Unique Stories. Show me something new.

Hate:
Love interest. Unless it's a romance, I don't care and would rather have a root canal.
Gore for gore's sake. Fuck you Saw and Hostel. You're not scary, you're not interesting. You are just torture porn for idiots that get off on watching random people suffer. I had diarreia with more plot and social relavence than you.
Shaky cam shots. Originally meant to show action and the jarring nature of real-life franticsituations ( like open battlefields), this has gotten out of hand. Fights that use this now get boring quick and shows how lazy the director is.
Special Effects Only movies. Transformers. Need I say more?

You crack me up. You sound a bit like James Rolfe.

By the by, it's your own dam fault you went to see Transformers.

I got a free movie pass. There are a few people I know that work in the corporate division of the local movie theater chain so I get a few every couple of months. I use them on films I'd rather not drop money on so I can accurately say that I've seen them and know wheather they are crap or not.

Love :
whem archnemesis or hero says: I'm sorry my old friend
bad endings everyone's dead, he does not get the girl, the villain wins.
good twist endings (Figh Club not like A Perfect Stranger for instance)
some sort of playing with the rules which are established

Hate:
cameos who are too distracting
montages
when the characters tell what just fucking happened 20 minutes ago and flashbacks (damn I was watching the movie and not sleeping or what do I know)
bad accents
fight scenes, where the protagonist is now better and has to show that by fighting with only one hand, yeah we get it you're a badass now
forcing fads into a like youtube, WoW or something like that( for example Hancock and Zombieland, Zombie outbreak and enough people who play and service the server??)
hipsters

Love: You see these fingers, dear hearts? These fingers has veins that run straight to the soul of man. The right hand, friends, the hand of love.

- Long takes
- Development through action rather than dialog
- Silhouettes

Hate: It was with this left hand that old brother Cain struck the blow that laid his brother low.

- Fast cutting
- Sloppy camerawork
- Expository dialog
- Musical montages

This is for Spillers who like going out regularly like myself. From now on I will regularly organize nights out with other Spillers and we'll do a pub crawl, go bar hopping or go out clubbing. These are not Spill Parties. These are Spill Outs
