I can't really choose one favorite movie out of the Matrix Trilogy, so I just say the entire trilogy itself is my AWESOME absolute favorite! - Mostly because I understand most of it.

The Matrix was one of the first movies of its time to ever achieve the unachievable in graphics and storyline, as well as bringing about an idea that no one had really thought about before: that we are oblivious slaves to relentless machines that use our bodies for energy, our minds plugged into a computer generated dreamworld called the Matrix in order to control us. That, however, is really only the basis for the trilogy. The indepth meaning of it is far different, as well as what really happens throughout the Matrix, the Matrix Reloaded, and the Matrix Revolutions concerning the individual topics that overlap within the three, such as control, cause and effect, human purpose and the purpose of life, the purpose of the One, and the adventures of birth, life, death and immortality. These topics have caused a lot of confusion about the series over the years, and I would like to ask you: To you, is the Matrix Trilogy bafflingly confusing or amazingly awesome?

As I said however, I understand most of Revolution's symbolism, so actually it's one of my favorites of the trilogy. I figured out some of the stuff on my own but really a website called www.thematrix101.com helped a lot. It's probably just some guy making up crap off what he thinks the trilogy's about, but it seems pretty legitimate.
The first one is both confusingly amazing and amazingly confusing. Just overall one of the best science ficion/action movies I've ever seen. It's absolutely en par with movies like T2 etc. - both considering the depth and the technological achievement.

And I'm sorry, Alan, just because it seems to be *popular* to bash Reloaded and especially Revolutions, doesn't mean that it's all wrong. ;) The second movie wasn't bad - it was just pointless. Revolutions just didn't resolve the open plot threads that made the second one fascinating.
It's the same problem as with the Pirates of the Carribean trilogy - the first one is amazing, the second one weak (but not entirely bad) and the third one is a f*cking mess.
I like the first Matrix. That said it isn't an idea no one had thought about before. In fact its mostly a rip off of The Invisibles.
the first movie was great but the second was a little confusing but the third was extremly confusing
i like the films but the sequels should have never been made. the end of the first film was the perfect ending and that is how it should have stayed. instead we get all that pretentious drivel that is the sequels.

i think the same about the terminator series too. sarah driving off at the end of the first film should have been the ending and all the crap that came after should have never happened. if anything was to come after the first film it should have been much like terminator salvation, showing the war, john a grown up leader and making his dad go back in time. the other two dont make any sense.
Firs one is my favourite for the interesting plot("follow the white rabbbit"), but the other two are not bad either - I loved action scenes in them.
Amazingly awesome of course.
Overrated
having read quite a bit of Phillip K Dick, the whole premise of this film was old hat to me..in my opinion.
wheeesht...
I loved the first one...but I didn't like 2 and 3, partly because of all the new characters that I didn't care for. The first one was better, when it was just the crew Nebuchadnezzar we see....all of the people in Zion annoyed me in 2 and 3.
