But, then again,
I could have sworn that Jackon Rathbone's comment would have stopped production...
"I think it's one of those things where I pull my hair up, shave the sides, and I definitely need a tan," Rathbone told MTV.com, presumably just before his publicist sat him down for a chat about political correctness. "It's one of those things where, hopefully, the audience will suspend disbelief a little bit."
Washington Post replies,
"But the only thing some fans will suspend are their plans to see the movie when it opens in summer 2010"
Update:
Protesters from the New York Casting Call in February
reported that the casting director are casting around the race of the lead roles chosen,
so this is how the tribes will break down:
Water Tribe = White People
Fire Nation = Middle Eastern People
Earth Nation = "Asian" People
Air Nation = White People
Don't get started with ironman, rokrok. He does this all the time. Between fapping to internet porn, he needs something to give his little life some semblance of meaning and purpose.
I'm confused.. This forum was talking about The Last Air bender film.. And now we're talking about how Asians aren't white people and how parents are offended?
I agree somewhat but must say that the whole thing will get better the less you do. It is not as if we do not care, we are just not as race-orientated as previous generations. I have friends from pretty much every background and we watch stuff like this without a care in the world about the cast. The more of a deal is made about stuff like that, the more it may cause the younger generation to feel as awkward around each other as the older one. To put it short, ignore who the cast is, get some popcorn, and watch the movie.
Well,
I completely understand your point of view. completely.
I even understand Iron Man's point of view. sadly.
(I have read more ignorant comments out there on the web)
If you search this site
for every other discussion about this whitewashed cast
or even read half of the blogs and articles written on this controversy
then I wouldn't have to explain my "caring" point of view.
I know people can perceive what I write as
"a big deal"
but, I am just putting this info on this upcoming movie releases thread
mainly to raise awareness to someone who might "care"
not to debate with people who don't "care".
To put it short, I will just ignore the people who don't care,
sit back, and let these guys deal with it...
Samania, ask your African-American friends
if they could "ignore who the cast is, get some popcorn,
and watch a movie" that has characters in blackface.
A Christmas Carol is the latest version of the already known story written by Charles Dickens. It is an spectacular feast for the viewer because it is its 3D format. The special effects are awesome. The story is good but I think that with the intent…
It's that time of the year when we celebrate the many gifts that the great Spill Kings and Queens bring us all through the year. And for this we celebrate there awesomeness.
